Hard to Start when Hot
« on: July 26, 2008, 12:35:45 AM »

All,
I have an 06 VRSCR that is a bear to start when she is hot. I will give you the setup:

-Zippers "Hot Rod" 1320cc Kit PN 617-511 http://www.zippersperformance.com/ca...=866&prod=2089
-11-1 compression (or so)
-Topless
-V-Moded exhaust
-Fuel it with 91 octane.
-New battery

When it is cool, it will start like a champ. If I ride it 15 minutes, and turn it off, when I try to start it, it sounds like the battery is dead, will barely turn over. I have to wait half an hour for it to cool down or it will not start. The oil temp is 210. If I add an external portable battery jumper to boost the battery, it will start. This happens like clockwork.

Any suggestions on:
compression release
starter capacitor
custom radiator thermostat
or anything else that might help

Signed
Not in a hurry if I stop

It's cause you put that Zipper's chit on it!  JK!

Check your PM's for recommendation on who to talk to...

Good Luck,

I'm no mechanic, but, sounds like compression releases.

Alex,
Did you ever figure this problem out?  Send a PM to anyone asking them about it?  Just curious.  Keep me posted.

Check for high circuit resistance for the starter, both ground and hot.  This is a common issue in the automotive world and the first place to check with the symptoms you described.
