The stock seat for a passenger is not much different than riding on the fender

We're all salesman in our own way.

The new seat worked out better, still not the most comfortable but the added leg room worked out great. Rode 320 miles on Saturday and another 150 with Donna on the back on Sunday. Great weekend. It got down to about 41 in southern Vermont along the CT river on Saturday night. But a great ride. I'll be posting a ride report sometime today.

Glad to hear the seat worked better for you, Ed.  I haven't taken any long, long rides on mine yet, but can tell the new seat is more comfortable, even for shorter rides.

41 degrees sounds pretty good to me right now.  I can usually put on stuff to stay warm, but around here lately, it's hard to stay cool!!

Looking forward to hearing more about your ride!!

I showed Teresa the bag you were talking about (BTW you hit the nail on the head she gets the tourpack one saddle bag, a tour bag that straps to the rear of my seat and one farring lower and I get the other saddle bag and farring lower).  She just didn't understand what was wrong with our current arrangement.  ;D .  I noticed that you mentioned that you had extra leg room with the new seat, that may be a problem for us.  We had to go with the reduced reach foot pegs for Teresa and now the pegs are in the perfect position for her.  If the seat puts you back any furthur than this may not be the seat for Teresa after all.  One good thing she never rides anyone on the back so there is no complaining about the rear (fender) seat.  Yall have a great one and ride safe.

Just viewed your pictures Terry.  The bike looks great.  Very nice indeed.  Hope you're still every bit as happy as when the idea first came to fruition.  That rear light looks very cool too.  Very slick piece.

Gary/Terresa....After putting some miles on the new seat, I'll have to say that it was a very good choice for both rider and passenger.  Contrary to my ealier posts, I think the Sundowner might move me just a bit further forward....definitely supports my legs better.  Suzzane says it is very comfortable for her as a passenger as well, along with the backrest.

TCn, I went with the SE mufflers too.  I liked the lines of the original pipes and wanted to keep that look.  It took me some time to really appreciate my VR, but it really grew on me.  It amazing how quick the bike gets from 55 or 60 mph to the next time zone.  You've got a great looking bike there!

If mine does sell, I'm going to be tempted to hunt down a bargain on an '06 SE that's still on the floor.  I've talk to a couple of dealers over the last week, one with the orange and black and one with the yellow.

The yellow is one of those colors that has grown on me.  I didn't like the yellow '05 SEEG when I first saw it.  It was just too much yellow, but I've come around to appreciate it and do think that yellow looks great on a bike (I liked it on my '05 Chopper - Sold in April).  I'll just have to see what happens with my VROD.  I'm resigned to be content with keeping it and OK with selling it.  If I do sell it, I'll enjoy the search for the next bike.
