Highway peg extension kit for FXR4?
« on: March 17, 2014, 05:40:43 PM »

I'm looking for a way to "extend" the highway pegs on my FXR4...my pedals are all stock and I prefer to keep that look...does anyone know if there is an extension kit available that doesn't alter the stock look dramatically?

Thanks!

By extend do you mean further forward or wider? Further forward you can get a little more by using the other hole in the plate that bolts to the frame.

I would use the factory plates that the peg mounts to as a template. Make a cardboard template that would place the pegs where you want (factory plates will help with frame hole location and thickness). Find a metal fab shop with a waterjet to make them. Paint, powdercoat, or chrome them when finished. I don't think you are going to find anything made to accomplish this. They haven't made an FXR in 14 years and even back then I can't remember anything like you want. I had an 88 FXRS and am 6'2" and would have liked more room myself. For now I would move the plate to the forward position to give you an extra inch or two for now.

Loosen the lower plate bolt, then pull the top plate bolt.  Move it from the front hole to the rear hole, rotate the plate forward and tighten the bolts back up.  See how that feels.

If you need a little more, then swap the plates left to right.
