'06 SEUC Won't Run
« on: March 01, 2007, 02:18:42 PM »

Spring finally came to Kansas yesterday if only for a day. Once the temp hit 65, I left work and focused on putting on some miles enjoying the day and my SEUC.
After a quick wardrobe change, a quick check of the criticals on the motorcycle and unhooking the battery tender I was ready to go. Switch on, lights come on but no fuel pump charging sound. Fuel pump light cycles off but low fuel light stays on. Fuel gauge also shows empty. Well I quickly removed the fuel cap wondering how a full tank of gas had evaporated. To my surprise it was still full. So why is the fuel gauge showing empty?
I decided to go ahead and try the starter. It turned over easily but no fire. I tried again. Still no fire.
Over the next hour I went over all of the obvious, checking fuses, connectors. I even removed the dash to make sure the fuel gauge was connected. Everything checked out. Next I called my dealer and related my situation to the Service Manager. His suggestions were exactly the checks I'd just completed. Two hours later my SEUC was in the back of a service truck headed for the dealership. I haven't heard from them today but hope to soon.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? If so, what was the problem? All evening I tried to go over anything I've done in the last couple of weeks that might have been involved in this failure. I can't come up with anything.

Only issues I have had are fuse related but the bike always ran.

If I was to take a wild ass guess I would say it was alarm related.

Let us know what they find, I'll wait with anticipation on this one.  Sorry to hear it screwed up a good riding day for you.

Check the Alarm (Set it, turn it on and Reset it ,turn it off)

Cycle The Run STop Switch.

If you turn the switch on and did not hear the Fuel Switch come on that is controlled by the two items above. NO Fuel NO start.

Keep us posted- Also You may ant to test the battery voltage should be 12.95 before you start it and drop down to 11 with the stater engaged. If it goes lower you battery may be discharged as well.

It was indeed a fantastic day here in Kansas to ride unless you were out past 5:30 and it was bad (hail and rain).
But I had something like that on my 07 jester. It turned out to be a loose ground cable on the battery, when I tightened it up and charged the battery, everything was good.

Just picked up my SEUC from the dealer. The failure was the result of a loose 4-pin connector between the dash and the fuel pump fuse. Probably resulted from my messing around that area while installing the connectors to the battery for my battery tender but not sure. Anyway, she's back alive and ready to roar. I'm also very pleased with the way my local dealer (Central Harley Davidson of Olathe, KS) handled the service including pickup of the bike, troubleshooting the problem and his charges were very reasonable. I went ahead and had the fluids changed while it was there so I'm ready for spring.

Right On  :2vrolijk_21:   Glad to hear it was something simple

I have been to their shop CHD a couple times and they seem like a fun group of employees and care about their customers

Sorry you had the issue but glad it was definitely found and corrected.  It's a beatch to be on the road not knowing that a problem was corrected.
