Spring finally came to Kansas yesterday if only for a day. Once the temp hit 65, I left work and focused on putting on some miles enjoying the day and my SEUC.
After a quick wardrobe change, a quick check of the criticals on the motorcycle and unhooking the battery tender I was ready to go. Switch on, lights come on but no fuel pump charging sound. Fuel pump light cycles off but low fuel light stays on. Fuel gauge also shows empty. Well I quickly removed the fuel cap wondering how a full tank of gas had evaporated. To my surprise it was still full. So why is the fuel gauge showing empty?
I decided to go ahead and try the starter. It turned over easily but no fire. I tried again. Still no fire.
Over the next hour I went over all of the obvious, checking fuses, connectors. I even removed the dash to make sure the fuel gauge was connected. Everything checked out. Next I called my dealer and related my situation to the Service Manager. His suggestions were exactly the checks I'd just completed. Two hours later my SEUC was in the back of a service truck headed for the dealership. I haven't heard from them today but hope to soon.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? If so, what was the problem? All evening I tried to go over anything I've done in the last couple of weeks that might have been involved in this failure. I can't come up with anything.
