Found myself on reserve today and when I stopped for gas, the fuel filler cover wouldn't release.

I spray my button and locking mechanism with white lube a couple times a year.  Thanks for the heads up on pushing down on the hinge area.

Another issue with the fuel filler "door" that I've had is that it gets loose at the latch and will vibrate/buzz.

On the second day of a 16 day trip (5.5k miles) my gas door latch button would not release the gas door, after many minutes got it to open, removed latch and had riding buddy pick me up a new one several days later, replace the latch or more problems later
