Keep an eye out for a 590 with a dead or busted screen then swap the internals?

That's the US domestic one, LL. The international one is 76000574.

Okay I see that now. For the price don't see why they have to have a separate number for international they got different numbers for each continent plus a lot stipulation for what bike it can be used on and all the extra bit for mounting,  couldn't even find if it had bluetooth  :nixweiss:  Just me but I can't see forking out that sort of dosh for a purity screen picture.
Hell I use goggles sat nav on my smartphone it's blue toothed connected to my headset and work flawless with real time updates.
It gets me where I need to go and will let me know if it's going to rain where fuel up points are where to chow down and where to bed down if wanted.

Yes, I wouldn't pay that either, LL!    That's why this thread is here, really, me being a cheapskate!  :D   I do a lot of touring - over 40 countries so far, so I need a good GPS, and really, it needs to integrate with the bike audio. HD's cheap crap built in one is useless, and a phone is far from ideal. My trusty Garmin 590 (as a 595 now) has been to all of these with me, but the problem is that the ordinary Garmin, whilst it plugs into the bike's audio, does not generate the tone that the Roadtech one does, so will not interrupt the other audio sources - so if you are listening to the radio, for example, you don't hear route instructions.  Effectively, if you want to hear them with the Garmin branded one, you have to only have the Garmin as the source you listen to - that's not too bad, as you can load it with MP3 files too, but I've always disliked the fact that it doesn't interrupt other sources.  Hence my desire to have a Road tech one, but not at HD's ridiculous (as usual!) price of ££££

Yes, the Garmin does all of that too, and more.

The ideal, of course, is Android Auto, as is possible the latest touring bikes' GTS audio.  But I'm not about to pay the price for one of those bikes!

I see where your coming from and why you would want something that would cover different country's and to be able to cut out what you're listening too to give directions
I more of a homelander  don't go off the rock so my phones all I need.
Good luck on your search. Be interested to know what you end up with.

Well, as per the thread, I've got my original 590->595 and I've now got this cheap demo-spec RT590->595, and it will do at a push.  It's a PITA having to split maps between the main unit and a μSD card, because of the 4GB internal VRAM, and a further pain that it's got no Lifetime Map upgrades, but I can live with those if I have to.

if the interrupt is not a deal breaker the newer Garmin is cheaper then the 595 has 32GB of internal storage a bigger screen and can me mounted wither horizontal or vertical.

Interrupt is the whole raison d'etre of my quest though, and the XT has no audio line out.  :(

For anyone who has done the upgrade I mention in this thread from a Roadtech 590 to 595 firmware, you'll have noticed that the boot up splash screen no longer displays the HD logo.

If it bothers you, I can tell you how to fix that.

And, as a by product of my research on this, I've discovered that you can make custom splash screens for the Garmin or HD Zumo, 590 or 595.  :orange:
