I think I past two Harley riders  today that must have read this thread.
The most common acknowledgement for passing riders is a side nod of the head or a leg wave it's  rare to get a hand wave yet today I got two hand waves from two Harley riders

BTW,  they had on leathers and jeans and flat black lids

One of my bikes is a Honda ST1300P, an ex Police a Motors unit. It’s fun watching other riders very hesitant waves trying to decide weather I’m a LEO or not, especially if I’m attired in the right clothing, with my white half helmet.

Have waved to many LEO, and most have waved back, it's ok in my book.

I always try to wave to LEO's on bikes or if they are in a cage. It's not that it would really help as you blow by them, but I still try it....

Earlier this year, we were leaving a hotel in upstate NY in the morning heading south.  A bike was coming up on me from behind (I was going about 80) and I waved as he went on past.  It was a Hells Angel and he waved back.

We have three HD motor officers in the Oak Ridge department.  I've met three of the 5 officers and they are good guys.  They always wave back.  K'ville has a couple and they wave.  We also have a few TN State trooper HD motor officers in our area and they wave back, too.  If it's two wheels (and sometimes three), I wave...as some of my trip pictures show, we have no problem with waving here...

Side note:  The TN trooper Street Glide bikes are very cool looking in the TN state trooper colors...

Not only do I wave( or should I say, "finger point down") to all bikes that I see. (sometimes I miss a few), but I have a few friends that are, or were LEO motor cops. As a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA) & doing many charity events(Honor Flight,Vet's Memorial rides) I've had the opportunity to talk, pray & do bike blessings with many motor cops. They are very appreciative of this. to me, riding is riding(I didn't always own or ride
H-D). Iremember back in the 70's when everyone would hold there left hand up in a fist. the Harley wave of hand down, index finger point is much cooler(IMHO).

I not only wave for all of the reasons mentioned above... and if I missed reading it above, I would also include the reason I wave is to let the other riders know that I Can See Them.
