Best/Quietest Modualr Helmet?
« on: May 08, 2010, 12:18:41 AM »

Hello, I am looking for a Quiet modular helmet.  I now have a HJC, and cannot hear a thing going down the interstate.  What is the best/quietest helmet out there?

I'm quite happy with my Nolan 102 for past 2 years, so also suggest checking out the 103.   :2vrolijk_21:

The blue tooth option a good added feature for 2-up I think too.

Try the Scuberth C3 - mine is much quieter than my Caberg.
Never tried the Nolan though.

Cheers

My first modular helmet was a Nolan. very quite but with the shield closed the chin guard pressed against my chin.  Bought a Shoei Multitec and it's just as quiet, or quieter, than the Nolan and fits me better.  But to each his own.  If you can try on the helmets that you are considering buying, it will probably make your decision easier.  Fit matters as much, or more, than quietness!

Must say the Schuberth modular I had before my Nolan was a bit quieter and was a great fit for me also.  It had the internal shade that I liked over my 102 Nolan.     But when needed new helmets the Nolan 102 with integral bluetooth won us over.    Truly right as said, :) that so dependant on personal fit/needs so do check them each out first (or) be sure return policy is fair if internet buying.

+1 on Shoei Multi Tec.  Also have Camos bluetooth set up with wireless capability to bsr, garmin gps, sd music cards and cell phone.  I like the Nolan look and set up, but after trying on both models, the Multi Tec had a better fit for my head.  Really worth trying on several models as the full face really needs to fit good to be comfortable on long hauls.

I like my Shark Evoline which allows the face shield/chin guard to flip all the way back so you can ride as if its a 3/4 helmet.  All of the pieces seem to fit well.  Only wind noise I've had is if I turn my head sideways while going down the road which probably isn't a good idea for very long anyway.  Installed the J&M headset and use Jim Bissonett's BOM with my Zumo for phone use.  It's all been good.  See it at http://www.shark-evoline.com/English.html

The shark looks really cool, the 3/4 helmet option would be great, and it has the sun shield.  I'm going to have to find one of these to try on.  Thanks for the info.

Just tried one on last weel... my other is less than a year old and hardly used so I'm not in the market yet.

The Evoline I tried on had latching issues and one side wouldnt lovk in the down position regularly. Either adjustment or?

Took delivery of the Nolan N43 last night. I ordered it online. Don't know if it's quiet or not because I sent it back today. The removable chin guard was pressed against my chin. It's way to tight and not adjustable.
Just a heads up in case you're looking at this model.
