Better Reach Bars
« on: September 26, 2005, 12:29:14 PM »

I'm sure I'm not the only one that would like the controls closer to me and/or a bit higher.

FLANDERS has good options. I have not put them on a FLHT yet but have on a FLTRI with very good results.

Here is their link -- good measurements chart too:

Drebbin, a bar that got a lot of chatter and several of us bought for the SEEGs early last year was the Wild 1 575.  It's a fatter bar than stock but still accepts the standard grips.  Pull back gained us 2 1/2 inches if I remember right.  Personally for me it fixed an "ache" the stock bars gave me around my right shoulder and they were just generally more comfortable.

Here is at least one of the threads where the bars were talked about a fair amount:

Thnx for the tip -- I installed Wild 1 515 on my FLTRI with the same relief you got. But here's the bigger problem -- did you have a hydraulic clutch cable to replace ?  HD is telling me I already have the longest --- which cables did you have to replace ?  About how much labor (hours) do ya think this will be? Thnx, DREBBIN

I wish I could find some internally wired bars that were only higher, not closer to me. I would be much more comfy on those longer rides.

Ya'll convinced me to try the 575; ordered yesterday. Now that I have the Road Zepp seat, I'm 2 inches taller in the sadlle = further away from the controls = not good for me.

I really wanted to put off doing the bars -- but my slow speed control is now very awkward -- higher center of gravity and lower bars = YIKES !!

So, I'll have to "ask" my dealer if they will install this NON HARLEY part.  Gee, ya think he might make some money on the install? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Drebbin, if Wild 1 didn't ask call them back to let them know your bike has a hydraulic clutch.  They've got the bars both ways and it makes a difference.

They fit just fine just remember to use a full lenght handle bar clamp.
