Harley still running behind schedule?
« on: February 22, 2006, 03:33:49 PM »

The last ship date was 2/17. Just heard from the dealer that it has been pushed back until 4/7. Not too bad for us northeners but, if they go much past that I will probably wait for the '07. Still have the Road King to ride in the meantime. I have to wonder if the paint issue is the only reason for the delay or if there are other factors

This is odd; my dealer today told me that my bike is still scheduled to ship on 2/28 with a delivery date of 3/8.

Checked on my Haze last Thursday.  Has a 3-24 ship date.  Dealer confirmed that date is still good.

Thanks, Jeffj.  I only put money down on the Haze a month ago.  Just happened to call the dealer where I have bought bikes before and he had the Haze unclaimed by anyone.

Based on what I have seen here, if it shows on time, I won't have waited anytime.  I waited 4 months for my SEEG in '05

Mine showed up today was originally supposed to ship early Dec just a little late.  The paint issue hasn't been fixed at least not on mine saddle bags are definatly a different color than the lids.  Maybe with a later ship date they will have a ddressed the problem.

Dealer in CT advises my order is due in 4/14/06.  I can't wait to get the Jeff additions.  Many rear lighting issues to deal with.  Much help from this site.  Debating the 6 speed with me, myself and the tread.  Didn't see it in Jeff list.  Did i miss it?  Dealer says he is getting a lot of complaints with the HID lamp - not enough difference for the price.  I have not seen that here on this site.  Did I miss it?
Oh my - the delivery date count down is painful.

Was by the dealer this afternoon and was told they have revised the ship date on the Haze from 3-34 to 3-20.  Maybe they are getting caught up.

My dealer gave me a 3/31 ship date back on Feb 11th.  I checked with them last week and the new ship date is 3/27.  They must be getting caught up.

Hope everyone's new SE shows up on time.   :)

My dealer called with a March 31 ship date for my 06 se haze ultra. This is the same ship date he promised a couple weeks ago.

I don't know what my ship date is (will call tomorrow), but my delivery date is 04/06. Hopefully thay will move that up a little, even a day would help.

I wonder if I will finally sleep once I actually get the bike, or still lay awake and then run to the garage every hour to look at it?

If experience is any indicator it will be the latter, I always think I'll be able to sleep once I get the new bike but that's never been the case.

I haven't picked out a name, those things tend to pick themselves. IMHO. (Although I'm not to keen on the references to the haze I have seen on the site so far ;D) Yea, you're right when you say I've got it bad. My wife wants the bike here because she can't stand me talking about it anymore. I think she will be surprised that it doesn't get better, from this site it seems to get worse!! [smiley=drink.gif]

Just a quick update, I stopped by the dealership yesterday and asked for an update on the schedule for the new SEUC, the salesman looked it up and said the ship date of 4/4 was still good and the latest status was 'Released to Production'.

Well, my 3-20 ship date didn't happen.  I talked to the salesman and he said they haven't changed the ship date but they have not assigned a VIN, which, he said means they haven't built it yet.  Anybody hear anything?  Does this happen to regular production or just CVO's?  He said they had a nonCVO Ultra show up today that was scheduled to ship on 3-20.

Thanks for the positive thoughts, guys.  I am a little nervous about this bike, because, initially, the dealership owner, tried to hold me up for a $2000 extra, after I had made the deal with the salesman.  Come to find out the owner had put his name down in the book on this bike as sold.   When I confronted him about the deal I had made with the salesman, the previous day, he relented  and said he would sell me the bike for the agreed on price.  I had bought three bikes from this dealership when it was under another owner.  I made the deal on my 05 SEEG, with a hand shake and never had any thoughts about not getting it.  But with this guy I am not sure that I will get it.  And I have passed on two other Hazes' for June delivery.  Hope I made the right decision.

John,
I guess you're in the same boat as I'm in and you've already put down a deposit.  I noticed someone made a post tonight that there are two Haze's that arrived today in Ohio that are not spoken for.

On top of all this, the salesman that I have purchased four bikes from, decided, to take the Service Mgr. job, so I am dealing with a salesman that I don't really know.  He did say that he is going to call Spoc or Spec.  Supposedly, they can tell him what is going on with the bike.  Anyone know what or who is talking about?  If I don't hear something positive tomorrow, I might contact the people in OH.

All of this sounds familiar.  Dealer and salesman I didn't know previously, lack of information, delivery date changed 3 times, etc.  I think this is why some dealers won't pre sell CVO's. They just don't like to be bothered.  My brother-in-law used to build houses, and I've heard him say several times he much preferred to build specs instead of pre-sold customs cause he didn't have the owner bugging him every day about delays, colors, etc.

Salesman called this morning.  He had a VIN and said the Haze shipped yesterday.  Said it should be here first of next week.

GC, I can understand what your brother is talking about, but this reminds me of when we bought a 96 Corvette.  The problem with buying the highset end product from a dealer who normally, pushes and prods people into buying their Cavalier, they tend to not treat the upper end buyer any differently than the rest of the crowd.  Should we be treated different?  Damn, right we should.  As we have all read, here, for the most part, the high end buyer is not treated any differently by the majority of dealers.  Just my thoughts.

I agree 100% with the thought that the higher end buyer should be treated better than the low end buyer.  That's how I make my own living, by giving the buyer more than they expected or get anyplace else.  It's a slow process to build a business like this, but it works.  Unfortuantely, HD dealers often have 3 or 4 buyers for these bikes, and the dealer is going to make the same $6500 off of each bike, no matter who he sells it to.  So, why should they treat us differently than the Sportster buyer.  Both are going to come back and buy chrome and some service.  And if it's not us, then it's somebody else.  Only when the demand gets less than the supply will the dealer start to cater to the customer.  You'll be able to tell the better dealers real quick when that occurs- they'll be the one's still in business. :o

My question would be, when does the treating great start?  You made my point.  You go to the Lexus dealer, I know becasue I have owned two in the last 4 years, and they treat the 300Is buyer the same as they treat the LS430 buyer.  The majority of HD dealers do not.  But I guess they do treat us all the same, like chit.

Maybe I'm a little naive or live in a vacuum but I think there are quite a few dealers who do get it. Over the past 10 years I've bought H-D motorcycles from three different dealers (I move a lot) that get it. Visit Zylstra H-D in Ames, Iowa; visit Gainesville H-D in Gainesville, Florida; visit Blue Springs H-D in Blue Springs, Missouri. All three of these dealers go to great lengths to show customers how much they appreciate them. They do it by earning your respect, by always greeting customers, by fair pricing policies and by being honest. I hope your not judging dealers by the discounts they give or the free stuff you get. That

The problem is with a company that sells the high and the low, you'll find everybody gets treated like the low end buyer.

I have bought 5 new harleys in the Denver area since 1986 from 5 different dealers. I would say none of these dealers work on customer retention!

I have to agree that Zylstra does a lot to make the customer feel good. I bought our 05 Road King Classic there (Ames) and it was a good experience. When I wanted to buy a Black Candy CUSE from them it was worth $3000.00 over MSRP and no dealing. Went 30 miles south and got one for MSRP, also left feeling good. Guess they don't understand fair pricing policies, or that I won't be back there again.....

For what it's worth.

I would have to agree, BUT, My experiance at High Country Harley in Fredrick seems to have been the exception. They are not giving away the store, but offer a reasonable 10% discount on all motorclothes and parts and labor puchased with a new bike. They are MSRP plus the shipping and prep fee. (They tell you up front, not at the contract signing) To compensate, they give the 5oo mile service at no charge. I was introduced to Scott (The owner) and he took the time to chat with me and thanked me for my business) I couldn't be happier with the service I have received. Again, not alot of free giveaways or "hooks" to get you in, just good customer service at a "fair" price. IMHO

Another, hopefully final, delay!  Ship date was updated this week from 3-30-06 back to 4-7-06. I don't know if I can afford waiting as I keep reading this site and finding numerous ways to spend more money!  I asked dealer if they would match a discount on the 6 speed transmission and was told as a matter of factly that the owner doesn't do discounts even if it means he will lose parts sales.   [smiley=confused5.gif]

My Haze was scheduled to ship on 3/27.  Checked with the dealer today and was told it's status was "In transit".  Now I'm really getting anxious.

I guess that makes three of us that may be pushed back. My ship date was 03/30 also. My dealer told me yesterday that he hadn't received his "update download" yet and that he would call me today. He seemed surprised that with a ship date of 03/30 that he did not have a VIN in the system yet. Maybe that is due to the delay. I can see you both are waiting on a haze bike also.

Rick, I feel your pain ... the wait is tough but if you're like me when I saw "Sweetie" for the 1st time you'll have this warm rush all over your body and a lump in your throat. Enjoy that feeling ... doesn't happen all that often (at least to me).  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Thanks Jay, I can't wait. (Neither can my co-workers :-X) I also contacted Bengys in W.V. and they were able to beat the dealers price on the extended warranty by over $400.
Rick

Good for you on the extended warranty deal! Lemme see.... what kinda chrome can all the site brothers and sisters recommend for $400???  [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]

You say your coworkers are anxious to see it as well? IDEA.... start a pool as to when it will arrive, give the winner half and you take the other half and buy even more chrome.

Hey FireD00d... how do ya like that idea for bling funding??  ;)

I know we're all anxious to get our new scooters.  I just called my dealership and the salesman told me he checked on mine this morning and it's still showing a 4/4 ship date.  I've got my fingers crossed.

There is a new Haze in Big D. Shipped on the 21st, one day late.  It arrived this morning.  Went by and stared at it for a few minutes this afternoon.  Looks pretty good.  Should be ready to pick up tomorrow afternoon.   Taking it as it came out of the box.  No discount from dealer on parts.  I can buy and install parts for less. Supposed to be raining, so might postpone until Firday.

I know some of you guys have waited a lot longer than I have, but hang it there.  I appreciate the positve words last week, when I was losing faith.

This site is AWSOME.

No news is good news?  From Harley or a Harley shop?  Talk about smoking something.  Harely only preaches the good news.  If you don't hear it ain't good.  Elmer Gantry does training seminars at the MoCo.

Surely you're not having problems spending your $400!!  I've got my stuff picked out and I'm going to the dealership Saturday to go over my list with them.  I'm concerned about what I'm reading on the SERT and the Air Cleaner.

That is bad news Rick! Like I said the other day on the phone, in your area theres only two seasons... Winter and July. At least you're not going to be without a bike during riding season. I don't know whats worse, waiting for a bike to come in or having a bike sitting in the garage that you can't ride.

So on the pool that Jay mentioned, I can keep the list of dates that everyone picks. Everyone can send me their deposits and when we get to Cripple Creek I'll pay the winner their part!

Sounds like a plan, put me down for $20 bucks and I will take the day the bike comes in as my day. (Whatever day that may be, LOL) [smiley=jalapeno.gif] [smiley=jalapeno.gif]

When I told my wife about your suggestion for the $400, she just rolled her eyes. I thought it was pure genius. (I gave her the phone numbers for yours and FireD00d's wife. I hope you don't mind, I mean what could go wrong with our wives talking about how we spend money on the bikes.....)  :-[ Oh Crap, I gotta go [smiley=oops.gif]

Oh, Oh.... I think I started something... me & my big ideas! BTW, ... be sure to tell your wife my name is Brett  ;) ;D

Thanks, Tbone.  I have a whoppng 22 miles on it.  Took the wife for a spin around the block.  She thought it was great.  She is not very big, but the tourpak has got to move back some. She never has gotten where she likes riding on the SEEG after riding on the RK.  Got to put some breakin miles on it because we are doing a ride of about 700-800 miles next weekend.

[smiley=nixweiss.gif]Sorry to hear that, I should have expected it, but when I heard it was like someone canceled Christmas. I don't think I have anticipated somthing with this much excitement since I was a little kid. Hang in there, we will both be riding soon.

Sorry to hear about your bad news Duke.  I was at the dealership yesterday to go over my addition list with the parts guys.  My salesman looked my order up and it's till showing the 4/4 ship date and the status was 'scheduled'.  I know the ship date is going to change based on what's happening with you guys and I'm trying to get myself prepared for the inevitable.  As for the additions, here's my list:
Automatic Primary Chain Tensioner:  40063-05
Chrome Switch Caps:                     71803-03
Finned Headbolt Bridge:                  43857-00
Chrome Inner Primary:                    60739-01
SERT:                                          E version
On the subject of the SERT, the parts guy said there was no problem, he didn't think there was any chance it was going to be discontinued but who knows.  He walked back and picked up one off the shelf for me.
Chrome Backing Plate for SE Air Cleaner:  29510-05
SE Air Cleaner
Rinehart True Duals
I asked about waiting on the performance upgrades until after break-in and he said he wasn't a problem because they had a map for the setup and wouldn't need to do the dyno.

My Haze was suppose to ship on 3/27, just found out today that it did actually ship on Saturday, April 1st.  Got the VIN so it must be on the way.  Hope to pick it up this weekend is all goes well.  Dealer thinks they will have it Wednesday or Thursday.  Oh Happy day! [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]

I have to pick it up 300 miles away in Minneapolis so I will be pulling an enclosed trailer down and hauling it back.  Weather doesn't look the greatest.  Temps in the 50's with a chance of rain.  But believe me, I will get to ride it.  Another day or two after waiting this long won't be any big deal.  Got lots of trips planned this summer.  Of course Sturgis is only 300 miles in the other direction.   [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

It was scheduled to ship 3/31 but no new ship date yet. How about yours? Hopefuly like Dakota it will only be a week late. Weather here in San Jose sucks, it just won't stop raining, so a week or 2 more won't matter. The good news is the steeler has all my parts in and ready to install them when it arrives (6 speed, & a lot of chrome stuff). hd-dude has a bunch of goodies on order for me & I have a pile of boxes full of goodies here at home waiting for the new scoot. By dragging this whole thing out, wifey won't really know how much my $32,000 scoot really costs. With the help of the wonderful guys on this site I have managed to go way over my $10k budget for extras. I have had a lot of time to play with my new Garmin 2720 GPS around town and love it. Wifey says I may need to buy another one for my bike now as she has claimed the one I purchased.
I have taken my 03 Heritage Classic out a couple times between the raindrops.

Called the dealership today, the scheduled ship date was still 4/4 but no actual ship date.  I'm not shocked at all based on what all of you have experienced with yours.  So I'll just wait it out like all you guys have had to do.  Hang in there SanJoseDuke, we'll get them eventually.

Mine arrived at the dealer today and should be ready by friday. Only one problem.....

 Tonight
Numerous showers and thunderstorms in the evening... then numerous snow showers after midnight. Snow accumulation 1 to 3 inches. Lows in the 20s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts to around 35 mph. Chance of precipitation 70 percent.
 Thursday
Snow showers in the morning...then rain and snow showers in the afternoon. Snow accumulation 1 to 3 inches. Highs in the 40s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph.

Nah - you can always take her home (using a T...... if you have to) and install her in the garage (heated and de-humidified - of course) and just gaze in admiration

Cheers

Just got word today that it shipped yesterday Hurray! Looks like they are only running 5 days behind. Should be ready to pickup the 15'th or so depending on how long it takes the steeler to install the HD 6 speed & chrome primary cover .

Hey Rick... so it arrived today! That is so cool. And whats even better is that on the pool I happened to have picked today. The official winners are...... bgregston and mtncop73!!!

The pool amount is only $20 bucks (the $20 you put in).

So you owe me $10 bucks!  [smiley=banana.gif] [smiley=banana.gif] [smiley=banana.gif]

Seriously, I'm really glad it came in!

Just got word today that it shipped yesterday Hurray! Looks like they are only running 5 days behind. Should be ready to pickup the 15'th or so depending on how long it takes the steeler to install the HD 6 speed & chrome primary cover .

That's great news Duke, I have a feeling there is another bling party coming.........

Congrats Dakota, I am picking mine up today. (If I can make it across the passes). I also talked to the dealer yesterday and had them install the SERT. [highlight]They should have the DYNO sheet [/highlight]when I pick it up. Keep us posted on the bike, post pictures!!!!
Rick

Hi Rick - is this a brand new bike you are talking about? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

If so is it wise to have it do a dyno run so early in life?? [smiley=nervous.gif]

Cheers

I saw a fellow picking up a crimson and slate bike in Plainfield , Indiana today at the Westside Harley dealership. I looked at the saddle bags closely and they looked fine. Very nice looking bike. He did not have any add ons yet. I told him about this web site.

It's good to see some are arriving! Dealer said mine shipped yesterday but he does not have a V.I.N. for it yet [smiley=nixweiss.gif]. I'll find out for sure in about a week I guess.

Called my dealer yesterday, he said the status had changed to 'reserved' which he said meant the bike had been completed and was waiting to be loaded on a truck for shipping.  He again confirmed the VIN would show up in the system once it was on the truck.  Hopefully it will show up next week sometime.  BTW, the scheduled ship date was still showing 4/4.

Sorry for Disappearing...I trailered the bike home yesterday, and rode today. GZot home about 4:30 this afternoon and spent the rest of the evening putting on the LED's I got from Hd-Dude. THis bike is the most incredible ride ever. We rode through Glenwood Canyon today...what a day. I will have pics soon. Thanks for thinking about me today, I am surprised you were not out riding today?.

Hey mtcop,

I see you said you were having the SERT installed.  Did you also do the air cleaner and pipes?

Picked mine up yesterday in Minneapolis and trailered it home. Got about 100 miles on it.  Great ride but it will take some getting use to.  I need to forget about how my Road King sat and rode.  My RKC was really comfy.  I'm sure in time the SEUC will feel the same.

[smiley=nixweiss.gif]I asked the same question....what I was told was, the dyno will be used to set the SERT and make sure the bike is running the way it should be. There will be NO high speed or high RPM dyno run until breakin is complete. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Talked to my dealer today....they bumped my ship date BACK a day to May 11th!  So, they must be caught up now....word from the dealer is that the paint is fixed, so mine should have the new process...all I can do is wait now...having trouble sleeping 'cause I'm spending too much time on here getting TMI.  Going to "roll my own" SE A/C...dealer said they would be glad to put one together for me with the K&N filter. So, chrome backplate, hardware, filter, and I'll let the cover "not fit" as it seems to be a non issue from what I've read here.  Also getting the chrome inner primary, automatic chain tensioner, silver finned head bolt bridge...leaving the pipes stock, at least for now. Getting the standard download for the A/C. Going to order the short antenae. Can't wait...no HD's since '72, and that was a chopped panhead...metrics since.  I'm READY...may see some of you guys in NC this fall.

My ship date to CT was 4/14 and I received my call the Haze in on 4/19.  Of course it will take some time to load the bike up with Jeff extras -- at least most of them.  ;)

I have a ship date on my new Chrimson/Slate of May 12 dealer says I should be able to come look at it on the 15th. I hope so.

BTW I had a Haze on order. When It came in it just didn't do it for me. The dealer told me about the Chrimson and the person that had it on order wanted the Haze. Looks like a match made in heaven for two people.

Dawg....ours are shipping on about the same date, so they must be coming off the same run.  I'm like you, the Haze is a gorgeous bike, but there's just something about the BCCS that does it for me.  Sounds like things worked out great for you, and the other guy is a happy camper too....some things are just meant to be, I think.  Sounds like your situation is one of them. Hope everything turns out good for both of us!!
