WO Chubby 575's
« on: January 21, 2013, 11:11:38 AM »

Had these installed on my 2011 S.E.E.U. and love them. Had them done by a dealers service deptment. Before I brought them to the dealership i cut the one half inch off the left side like the handlebar company suggested and when the dealer was finished the left side grip still does not reach where the bars get bigger. there is about one eight inch gape. On the right side I have never read where it is nessesary to cut one half inch off. The right side is one quarter inch from touching the bigger part of the bar. What went wrong. Looks like crap. How hard would it be to take the grips off to shave this off the ends . Does all the wiring have to come back out to do this. These people charged me a but load of money to do it. Hope I don't have to go through this again.

I think you could just loosen the clamp and move the left grip back an 1/8" to
make the two ends match.

If you don't have heated grips, the left side would not be a problem.  The right side...you'd have to be very careful, but it could be done with a Dremel tool cutting wheel.  Even with the heated grips, it could still be done, but carefully.

No gap at all.   The left side is really simple when the bar is shortened. The right side,, loosen it up and push it all the way up,, then snug it all back down.

I guess my question should be simply , on the right side without cutting the bar should the grip fit all the way to the bigger part of the bar without cutting it? I do have heated grips. I suck at explaining myself when writing.

When sitting on bike the right side is Throttle. THATSIDE DOES NOT NEED TO BE CUT. If there is a gap your dealer installed wrong!! Take it back and have him loosen and push the grip in all the way until gap is gone.

The LEFT SIIDE where the heated grip controller is needs to be cut between 3/8-1/2" to make room for the controller to eliminate the gap. I hope this help brother.

thanks for all the info brothers. I just loosened them pushed them in and the gap went away. I can't believe these people get paid that kind of money and half a!s a job like this. I shopped around a lot to get the best price on labor. They ended up getting it back on parts they said they had to have and I have not seen anything on this site where anyone needed lower brake line . Total price for parts were $550.00 bucks. Wish I could afford to open my own Harley shop and put all these local clowns out of buisness.

I like the looks of the 575's. If I bought a set of the 575's today for my 09'SEUC would the cutting modification have to be done to the left side to eliminate the gap or is the gap in this thread just a one time problem with this particular set of bars? Or was it a dealer install issue. Thanks

If you have heated grips you will need to cut off the 1/2 inch as stated on the website. It's easy to do!

Specifically, the HD heated grips only.

The left side had to be cut because I have heated grips. It was a dealer issue that they weren't on properly. I did just what the handle bar company said to do, cut one half inch off the lef and after I lossened them up and pushed them the rest of the way they fit perfectly
