Title: FXSTDSE windshield ??
Post by: FirstHD on January 23, 2013, 11:23:33 PM: I've been riding for ... let's not admit how many years (relate: 3hp FOX mini-bike?) .... and finally obtained my first HD (yeah!!).
My selection is a 2003 FXSTDSE ... from someone who didn't appreciate what they had.
I'm hoping that there is a suggestion for replacing the windshield that the previous owner duct-taped a For Sale sign on and is virtually useless now.
I've only owned the bike for about 6mos now, but for the 200+ mile runs I've been on, I prefer to have a windshield. I'll stop at a local burger joint for my fresh meat! I like the HD vise-scrip type mounts (not currently on my bike) and would prefer a colored vs. clear shield.

Suggestions?

Post by: FLY-DOG on January 24, 2013, 07:18:13 AM: Recommend you Google (Google and search functions are your friends - use them) replacement windshields for Harley Davidson FXSTDSE and see what selection of manufactures in addition to the OEM pop up. If your missing the OEM mounting hardware that stays on the bike, I suggest you go back to the previous owner and inquire if he still has the hardware; if not, you'll have to purchase from Harley Davidson and you can find the p/n's on-line by using a micro-fiche parts finder like the ones certain dealer provide for your on-line use such as one in the link below. Once you find your correct p/n's then go to one of the on-line dealers who discount their OEM parts by 15 - 20% such as Surdyke's and purchase what you need.

I emailed Rifle asking about their big touring windshield for wife's '08 FXDSE2. About which I have a thread Here (http://"http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=87687.0")

Rifle has not contacted me back.

I believe you need the hardware from a prior equivalent HD windshield.

Rifle was slow in answering, but did answer. They do not sell the hardware.
This is an old thread. So for any "Ducies" that stumble on this thread, I am following up with - I have the tall HD windshield with quick clamps for my 2000 Screamin' Eagle Deuce. Had several other windshields before that model. The clamp tall is the best for me at 6' and 32" inseam. Love the SE Deuce.

I have gone through several windshields and now prefer the HD Clamps. If you prefer the older hardware, PM me.

After you have the hardware of your preference, several vendors will happily sell you Lexan windshields of your preferred tint and shape.
