I have an 06 Ultra. The motor is a 103, with 35K (miles) on it.
On the way home from KY a few weeks ago the inner cam bearing blew and sent little tiny fragments through the motor to get acquainted with the bigger parts.
The oil pump split.
We replaced the tensioners at that time with gear drives since the right side was apart already.
We thought that we got all of the stuff that was floating around, it ran great on the two test rides, and then it supmed.
The oil pump split... again!
Today I tore the top end down... there's minor scoring on the pistons, they're going to be replaced... and looks like we might just have to hone the jugs.
I can clearly see pieces of the gears from the oil pump in the bottom end, so the cases will have to be split.
I'm not planning on throwing a pile of cash into it (already at $3000), so I think most of the parts will be stock, when the bottom gets opened up is there anything I should be looking for as preventative maintenance goes?
