I would buy from Jerry Hammond.  He is an internet dealer only, out of Virginia.  I have met him a few times, and bought two Ed Browns from him and a Les Baer. Price was much better than any place else, he was very true to his word.  I will be ordering a Wilson combat from him some time this year.

Talk to Jerry about options.  He pretty much told me first time it is all personal preference.  He then went through each option and pointed out pros and cons of each.  I know one option that was a must have was my last name engraved in the barrel bushing on my browns.  I also really like the gold bead front sight.  I run a mag well extender on both mine too as it makes it quicker to change mags.  

You can not go wrong with any Ed Brown, I just love them.  After I get a Wilson, I will in 15 or so be getting a Kobra Carry or Executive Carry brown.

I really love 1911 pistols, and my wife does too.  She learned to shoot in the Navy with one.

I have two browns, a Special Forces, two tone which was my first brown, wife was pissed at how much I spent on a gun.  Then she shot it, and did not even blink when I spent more on the second Centennial Edition Executive Elite Ed Brown.  She can put all eight rounds in the bulls eye at 10 yards.

For the money, on a high end 1911 I think it is hard to beat a brown.

I would love to own the Ed Brown Cobra Carry but at 35 oz with empty mag it is rather heavy for me to use as an everyday carry.

My Kimber Super Carry Ultra HD with Crimson Trace laser grips & HK .45 with Lasermax green laser. I carry the Kimber everyday & the HK is for the home although I do carry it once in a while.
