Went to Academy Sports today to pick up a fishing license.  Well, I couldn't leave without checking out the firearms.  Came back home with this:  Colt 1911 22LR Rail Gun

I've read a bunch of stuff on this gun (surprise, surprise, surprise) and it gets very good reviews.  Functions just like a "real" 1911, but you can afford to shoot it more.  I didn't really care if it had a rail or not...the rail version has a little bit nicer sights, and Academy has a really good price on this gun, so I couldn't resist.  It's built by Walther, but distributed by Umarex.

One more, and I'm done...

I got it mounted on the fairing -- test fired today -- but as u can see from this pic -- I need some more trigger control --

When you fire it, just be ready for either a REAL suddens stop, or acceleration.   :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

Spydy...It holds 12 in the Magazine.  It's got a thumb thingy on the side of the Magazine to make loading it easier.  I've got to track down another magazine now.

I've discovered a free place to shoot...a Wildlife Management Area about 6 miles from my house.  They have a "rustic" range set up with benches, etc.  All you have to have is a Hunting license or Fishing license to use it.  Weather permitting, it'll be a good place to go.  Should be a fun gun to shoot, from all reports, and I can get Judi "broken in" with a 1911 type gun without the recoil, even though the little Sig is not bad at all on recoil.  The 45 I've got my eye on will be a little bit more of a handful though.

TC I have a Ruger 380 pocket pistol, it barks harder than my glock 30, 45 acp.The glock is so smooth you cant believe its a 45 in comparison to the 380.Less recoil, much smoother.

I have a German Sports Gun, or GSG 1911-22.  Looks, feels and operates just like the real thing.  I even have a set of grips on it that came on one of my other 1911's.  Lots of fun to shoot, and 550 rounds in it cost about 4 dollars less than 50 rounds of 45acp.

Yea...I'm having a fire sale on Ebay right now with fly rods, reels to get some funding for another couple of purchases.

I want to get this one for Judi...Sig P238 in the Rainbow Titanium.  She needs a gun in her purse, and won't have to buy but one main caliber of ammo for both of us.
I have two (2) of these and love them.

The black Nitron is my personal carry gun and my wife has the Rainbow that she occassionally shoots at the range.

In an effort to be fiscally responsible, I'm thinking about buying a .45 1911, and then adding a .22 slide to keep cost down on ammo until I get confortable with the gun. Thoughts...

For Christmas I got the Kimber Ultra CDP 45 in stainless steel/black with rosewood handles.  Beautiful pistol that is sweet to shoot  :beatdeadhorse: :rifle:

That is virtually the same (if not exactly the same) as the Sig 1911-22LR.  From what I've read, they both come out of the same plant.  I was strongly considering one of those, but the Colt (Walther) was a little bit less expensive and Academy had a good price on it.

I considered going that route too.  Two things made me decide otherwise:  The conversion kit is pretty expensive, so I could just get a whole 'nother pistol in 22LR for just a few bucks more and not have to fiddle with converting it over at the range if I want to shoot the 45 round as well;  The 45 I've settled on is not a 5" barrel, it's a 4.2" (Commander length), so I COULD carry it if I want to, especially in colder weather with more clothes on.  I mean, you CAN carry a 5" 45, but at 5'8" (and shrinking), it's a little large/heavy for me to tote in my wasitband.

All I've got to do now is come up with the $$$ to get the 45.  And I may end up with a 20ga. tactical pump shotgun as well (Mossberg).  I've got an old 12ga Double Barrel, but it's so heavy, it's impractical for use.
