Factory 2012 mufflers
« on: May 26, 2012, 12:22:15 AM »

My 07 ultra the left side was close to being a dummy muffler. It had a solid cone of some sort in it you might say.
Does the factory mufflers on a 2012 street have the same thing. I want to go to true duals to get heat away from my wife's legs. did the catless headers with PCV. performance is really a lot better and running cooler but not cool enough she says. I really like the factory mufflers, good deep sound and not too loud. not to mention save some bucks while I am at it.
Any one have any idea whether or not the mufflers are like the o07 in that area or can I use the factory mufflers.

They are not plugged but very restrictive. Most of the exhaust does travel out the right. If you like the look of the stock mufflers you can always do the fullsac method.  Do a search of them and you will see alot of discussion about them.

thank you
That is what I needed to know.
I have been considering the fullsac 1 3/4 baffles. I don't like loud. If I can hear my tunes good I'm happy. But I do like hearing the pipes

I have the fullsac 1.75 baffles and xpipe with tts. I am very satisfied with it.

I already have the catless headers. fuelmoto version.
just need the baffles. but I have not yet found a true dual set up with only one pipe on the right side.

having both pipes on one side defeats my purpose, I want to reduce the heat from the pipes by having only one pipe on each side
i removed the lower fairing, yes I lost my speakers but it made a huge difference. we can handle it like this

fyi----------believe it or not the 2.0 baffles have a much better sound and are much easier to listen to at highway speed than the 1.75's. -----------this is not hearsay, I have done both and now have the 2.0 baffles on the advice of Steve at Fulsac. Call and ask him if you have doubts. They are just much smoother and have a little deeper tone at idle but soooooooo much better at highway speed.
