It's on YouTube " #1 Reason not to buy a new Harley Davidson". Maybe someone can fix it for me. I'm not the best at this.

No different than buying a new car. Depreciation is a way of life. I buy new because I can and like it. If I were worried bought the deprecation I would buy used and a warranty, but I'm not. I would probably buy used if I had to finance, but so far that hasn't been a problem so new it is.

Yep, the video could be used for about anything - bikes, cars, RVs, boats, etc.  Most buy new because they can get exactly what they want, no scars, marks, get a full warranty, etc.  Or, as CVODON states, "'because I can.'"

My cvo is the first new Harley I got to buy. I seen it, liked it, and knew I could afford it. The only other new thing I bought was our 2012 Silverado. I'll still buy used if I find a good deal but I never think about depretiation, don't really care about that.

We buy new because we can..

Yeah, have not financed anything in years so no interest charges.  On vehicles I buy new.   If I wanted something used, I would buy it used.  Lots of factors drive buying decisions other than money & cost.

If one is purchasing a motor vehicle as an investment instead of a necessity and/or pleasure, sumptin be wrong.  They have more money than sense.

We buy because we want....new or used

Lots of reasons to buy new and used.

My wife and I recently bought our youngest son a car. He wanted something cheap for around $2500-$3000. We decided to get him a new subcompact car for lots of reasons.

1. Cost to repair is higher on a used car versus a new car with a warranty. My son needs financial help if the car breaks down, so who knows what a used car would have cost over the next 3-5 yrs in repairs.
2. The new car has 7 airbags including a knee bag.
3. The new car gets 35 mpg average with 40+ mpg on the highway.
4. The new car model is just one step above baseline but has a ton of features - alarm, electric locks, Bluetooth, backup camera .. on and on.
5. The new car (2017) was under $14k out the door.
6. Makes us feel better that he has a new more reliable car (for now).

As was said by many, we do this because we can and we want to do it.

New 2017 F250 diesel.....

Nice ride!  Too soon for me to look, a couple of friends have 2017 F150s. Good looking trucks.

I finance the truck because I get a much lower rate them my stocks are making and my company can write the loan off.

I bought a new F-150 Platinum in April.  With the 0.99 financing from my Credit union it would have been stupid to pull money out of my investments, which have returns of over 10% this year.

They also gave my really good money for the 06 diesel I traded on it.
