Some of you may know this already, but short block charlies offers ported heads with welded combustion chambers for the CVO 103's. You can have yours ported to whatever cam and compression your going to run or do a one for one swap. Just wondering if anyone is running them or had any experiences with SBC?

Short Block Charlie has posted here a time or two I believe. Haven't used his stuff but I know from other sites that a lot of people have.

I have used SBC (Charlie Lawlor, Phoenix) on three occasions. 1). Flowed (Scostmen Build) a set of SE Heads used on my 95" Build, with SE 251 Cam and V&H ProPipe, engine produced 97HP and 104 lb ft. TQ.
2). SBC Vortec build on my 04 SE 103" Heads, S&S 585 Cams, rest of engine stock, SE HD Six Speed, Rinehart True Dual, now Freedom Cycle True Duals, SERT. Engine 107 HP & 117 lb ft of toque.
3). Now building a JIMS 120, c/w SBV Vortec Head Work, S&S 640 Cam, SE HD Six Speed, Freedom Cycle True Duals, SERT, changing to RB Racing LSR Blackholes.
Want to be reliable for Touring usage.
Hoping for around 126 HP & 130 ft lb TQ???, will see. Bike ready to ride in Phoenix at end of March. After break in will have it Dyno'd and tuned.
Engine will be in an 03 Road Glide.

Very happy with SBC work. Had 95" SBC build and now Jims/SBC 120" in my Roadglide. ;D

Discovered SBC on this forum and had him do the vortec heads for my SE Road King. 103 with S&S 585s, Rinehart true duals, Wild Things 57mm throttle body, and SERT. 117 hp and 120 tq. I'm quite pleased with the results.

Those numbers are hopefully v conservative since the totally stock motor should be around 120/125. Are those a restrictive 2 - 2 pipe? Before I decided to go with Tman charlie told me to expect 135 - 140 horse with the wild things cams and his headwork. What static compression ratio is he planning?

My Jims/SBC 120" is at 132/129. 4th gear run SAE.

Could you tell me where you got your figures for hp and torque? All I"ve ever seen for a stock motor is in the range of 100/100 with and SE Air cleaner and good pipes.

Good to know, am thinking I may use his heads... As much as I have been patient waiting on Zippers cam, heads and piston package, I don't want to have the bike in the shop for a couple of weeks during riding season. I like the idea of the welded up combustion chambers better than the hemi design Zippers will be offering.

I spoke with Charlie, and he will probably post some more information on his (Vortec) Head Porting etc. He also has an excellent video of assembly of the JIMS 120.
