Off the bike for a month
« on: May 29, 2016, 08:41:50 AM »

Fun, fun, fun till the garage door tore my bicep away... ;D

Surgery scheduled to re attach my bicep to my elbow for Wednesday, June 1.  I'm out of the saddle for at least a month.  Could have been worse, though.

My neighbor had this surgery.  One word of advice....after the surgery is over, do the therapy religiously....   :2vrolijk_21:

Nothing other than one side of the spring broke on the garage door and I was attempting to lift it manually just to get it open. I guess I'm getting to old for those Schwarzenegger moves... :o
I will stick to the rehab plan...don't want to go through this again.  Thanks for the kind words and prayers.

Sorry to hear about this.  Hope everthing goes good.
Tore mine from the shoulder and now have 3 ancores in there. After the surgury 1 guy came up to me and said not to get into theropy to soon, his doc started him inside a week and he tore it up again.
Mine was fixed 2 weeks before xmas and couldn't get into theropy until after the new year.
Also doc kept me on L&I for 12 months, maybe mine was worse.

Dang Howard, us old people can't catch a break. Or maybe we break too many catches.
Praying all goes well with your surgery and rehab.

That's a very unfortunate injury Howard. Those overhead doors can be extremly heavy, especially if its a double garage. It coulda been worse... the broken spring coulday have hit you or the bike.. and them things will mess up yer paint, yup I've had that happen once...

Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

Thank you for the prayers and well wishes folks. The surgery went well yesterday and I'm in recovery mode. It's bandaged up where I can't move it but I'm supposed to take the bandages off Saturday. Hopefully starting Saturday I can begin the rehab.

For me rehab started with some finger walking on the table, even after all these yrs when I lay on the floor with my hands behind my head I can't touch  the floor with my right elbow and if there long enough I need to use my left hand to pull my right out from under my head do to pain.

Thanks Ray.  Going well but won't get the staples out until next week so not a lot of therapy or movement yet.  It doesn't hurt, just uncomfortable.  I look at it as it could have been worse.

The great weather we are currently experiencing is hurting more...Beauregard is sitting in the garage gathering dust and on a trickle charger... :(

Won't make MV this year.  We are taking our son and daughter-in-law to Vegas in September for their first time...so maybe MV next year.
