I have seen rear speakers in the lids of saddlebags. I have also see subwoofers applied to the inside bag wall like this here. However, this is mid-range and tweeter. I presume you have done this on one or more of your other bikes. I am just wondering if it's a valid design approach from the acoustics standpoint. It would seem to me that the speakers driving sound into the tires will cause distortions and reflections and would likely lose effectiveness when traveling at highway speeds. Is this solution more applicable to a stationary motorcycle or does it produce results at speed that warrant the expense?

Simon I run mids as to not have the speakers fighting for the same air wave inside the bag. I'm driving them with enough power that the sound loss is minimal while moving. I'm presented with a few challenges on this bike that I'm trying to work around. I usually use a bag lid that holds three speakers, 2 6.5" mids and 1 4" tweeter. Than I install the 8" as pictured. I'll tune the 8" for as much low end as I can get to it. The tweeters are stupid loud, enough so I have turn them down. It will be interesting to see what this configuration gives me. All this because I wasn't willing to give up the bag locks!!

That could be awhile.... Daytona will be the shake down runs.. I am bringing my 13 with me just in case...
