The $2.5 million Spokane Falls SkyRide is one of only a handful of lifts in North America owned by city government.  Riders board at the drive station in downtown Spokane’s Riverfront Park.  The gondola travels down through the park, across the Spokane River and under a four-lane bridge before turning around.  All this happens in only 1,120 feet.  It takes 15 minutes to ride round-trip at a painful 150 feet per minute (the design speed is 600 fpm.)  The gondola’s turnaround station on the far bank of the river does not have loading/unloading or even an operator.  A ticket for the SkyRide costs $7.50 and it operates year-round.

Greenwood Cemetery

Local legend has it that an old, decaying staircase outside this cemetery is haunted by dozens of ghosts.

Supposedly the site of satanic rituals, the staircase, dubbed “1000 steps” because nobody can make it to the top, according to the legend, leads from the side of an access road up to the cemetery.

Time to leave Spokane and head towards Canada.  I take Highway 395 to Kettle Falls then cross over to Highway 20 and Highway 21.  These are nice backwoods roads through the Colville National Forest.  I number of stops are worthy if you take this road.

I would be crossing into Canada at Danville, WA.  I small on post crossing with limited hours.

I have crossed into Canada on a number of occasions but this time it would be different.  There were more questions, more follow up and a point of concern.  The crossing seemed to take forever, in fact however it may have been 10 minutes.  After an inspection of the motorcycle and contents, I was given the green light!

Thank God I do not have those Georgia Peaches on hand and my Cat like reflexes were in place!  HA!

As I traveled into what would be my stop for the day, Osoyoos, British Columbia, Canada, I did not expect what I would see!

It's surrounded by desert, vineyards and mountains. Osoyoos Lake is known for its warm water, beaches and water sports facilities.

The hotel had its own private beach and there were folks takin’ advantage of it.  I guess I take it for granite since I live near a beach.

There were some lingering fires around the area.

For a small town Osoyoos BC really packs a convenient punch when it comes to having everything that the Okanagan British Columbia offers for a vacation, all in one little place.

Now where to go?  I do not think it will be a return to St. John’s from here.  Over 7,000km!

Day 6 | Osoyoos, British Columbia – Kamloops, British Columbia

Rode Highway 3 and Highway 97 which was a great ride near the lakes the entire time.  Beginning to see wildlife including moose, bear, deer and elk.  Stopped in a couple of small towns – Summerland, Peachland and Kelowna.

Day 7 | Kamloops, British Columbia – Jasper, Alberta

Experienced the Yellowhead South Highway for the second time which is a nice run with a few stops along the way.  Plenty of wildlife at this point and a road that is less traveled unless you are going to Prince George.  I went there on my last journey to Alaska and did not have the time on this journey to experience it again.

Daylight has become longer and it was almost 11pm before it was dark.  That was a hard adjustment last time I was near here.
