Race Deck - Garage Flooring
« on: October 14, 2017, 02:28:02 PM »

I recently heard of Race Deck on the Velocity channel. Then I noticed some of our member garages using Race Deck materials. If you have Race Deck or some other comparable flooring, please share your experience.

Are you happy with your Race Deck purchase?
Can you really install it in a few hours? Seems like a full day job to me, if you include moving stuff in and out of the garage.
Did you buy directly from Race Deck or a reseller?
How is the cost? Really high or a good deal compared to other flooring options?
I noticed some of the tiles have holes to "drain" fluids. How does that work? Seems like it would be a mess.
Any other information would be appreciated.

Here's my RD floor.  Pros: Installs easily, can replace pieces that get damaged, can design your floor, and tougher than you'd expect.  Cons: shows dirt more than an epoxy floor, does make a noise when you walk on it (this can be negated by placing landscape cloth down and putting RD floor on top of that).  I'm pleased with my floor.  If you go RD, stay away from the light colors, like yellow and white - they'll be hard to keep clean.

I don't have the RD with holes, so I can't comment on that.  I wash my bike and cars in the garage and I don't have any issues with mold or mildew beneath the RD, and I live in the Deep South.

PM me if you have other questions.

Just did it and I am pretty pleased. Can't speak to oil or fluids yet since it is 2 weeks old. Easy to put down and goes quick, but depending on how much you have to move it may take some time. I used the free flow tiles for the first 2 rows so I can put the snow blower there in the winter and it can drain through the tiles.

Bought directly from Racedeck and they had the best price. Short shipped me 2 tiles and when I called they shipped them with no questions asked.

I'm building a new shop and considering doing the floor with RD tiles.
Do the tiles connect tight enough together to hold water or does it leak through to the floor below?
It looks like you cut the edge tiles to fit at the walls. Any issues with cutting them?

Both floors look great by the way.

Cutting them is no problem.....I used my table saw for an easy straight cut. They fit pretty tight, but I am sure if left there liquid will get through. The bottom is channeled to allow air so that water can evaporate. Oil I would wipe up before it got below the tile, but if it did you can remove a single tile to get to the floor if needed.

They will send samples for you to see so just order 2 samples in different patterns or color and you can snap them together to see the fit.

Thanks Mike! Just curious, did you use 12" or 18" tiles? From the picture I'm guessing they're 18"s. I still may give you a call as I get closer to doing the floor.

They are 12" tiles.....4 of them for each square.

Feel free to call when you want......

I used the RD tiles in my 22x7 scooter trailer. I used aircraft seat tie down and mounted it too the floor first for a flush fit. Had to cut more than I thought, so the job took about 3 days. Have been using for about 4 years and have not had to replace any tiles as of yet. Would use it again tomorrow. Bought on a close out from RD, so I guess I got a good price?

Race Deck tiles with the HD logo in my previous garage.
Move house and working on a new bike room using the same tiles.

Some guys are finding themselves switching allegiance...........from H.D. to Indian. :nervous:

Not sure what color scheme is used by Indian,  does Race Deck have a trade-in policy if a guy needs to get "shed of" the orange and black. :)
