Dyno test! 2017 M8 120 budget build!
« on: October 22, 2017, 08:17:05 PM »

Here's one anybody can build with basic mechanical skills. The only internal changes were a bolt on piston kit, Cam and valve spring kit.
Started with a stock 107 that made 75 Hp and ended at well over 120 HP with stock heads and TB. Excellent low end power, 110 FT pounds at the hit!
And a quiet set of 1.75 baffles.

Bike- 2017 107 M8 Road Glide Special. Black of course.

Parts list
120 M8 piston kit, purchased from Suburban Speed.
CVO 114 barrels, purchased used from CVO member then bored to 4.185
No case boring, all bolt on.
TTS 200 cam
SE valve spring kit
SE 5.5 injectors
Fullsac MX Pipe
Fullsac 1.75 baffles in modded 107 mufflers
SE Heavy Breather
TTS Tuner
Stock heads and throttle body!

Very nice Steve.  I really like the torque curve on that.  I know its a blast to ride.  I hope early next year to have my 2018 CVO Road glide dyno tuned with just your head pipe and 2.25 cores.  I have just been to busy to be able to get it done sooner.

Sure makes me think going 124 pistons from Suburban and a good came It would have great torque and good hp.

Nice curve.  What is the before and after static compression ratios?

Curious, what is the lift on this cam?  Any concerns with lifter durability in this build?  I'll assume much less lift than a typical TC cam but now your pushing 2 valves open instead of 1.

The first dyno session was with 2.25 baffles. It made 124 /137, but it gave up power below 3K. For me personally, the smaller quieter baffles with more low end was a win win trade. I will try a set of 2.0 baffles this week. Some thing I should have mentioned in my first post. If this was a CVO, we would have ended up at 124" with out the purchase of barrels. Even cheaper! The 107 and 114/117 motors share the same cylinder heads and Throttle bodies. Four more cubes, four more points on HP and Tq. Would have easily seen 128 HP and 140 TQ. Those numbers with stock heads and TBs leaves about 2K in your pocket over any Twin Cam build.  Going big has never been easier.

I did check the deck height out of curiosity, but I didn't CC the heads because I had no intention of changing anything, it wasn't in the budget. Went back together with a .030 head and stock base gaskets. I'm sure its close to 11-1. Cole won't tell even me what the cam specs are. I assume its right around .500 lift, it did require new springs. I used a set of S+S premiums, no concerns at all.

Very interesting and very good to know.  Maybe next year when I recover from the new bike purchase.

Nice numbers, but your still starving air out of the stock TB, Air is king, get rid of that stock TB, several friends of mine have done just that, and have increased their performance by as much as 25 percent, just freeing up air with a HPI TB and true duals, their engines are stock 110. the SE TB have a bottle neck at the wye going into the heads, EPA crap! Do your own research, just a suggestion, mine runs like a stripped ass ape,

Right now it goes like "Jack the Bear". How big do you think I will need to go on that throttle body to skip "Stripped Ass Ape" and go straight to "Knuckles"?
