« on: November 22, 2017, 11:11:49 PM »

OK guys,

Im having some issues with wiring up my 1994 Bushtec Turbo 2 with my 2016 CVO Limited.  I have the wiring adapter and the BUS adapter but Im having issues. The turn signals stay illuminated when not in use but they function fine when switched on. Im trying to figure it out but I need help. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry I cannot help you . . . but I bet Bushtec can.  Give them a call.  888.321.2516.

Are they coming on as running lights?

This is copied from the Bushtec website FAQ section.  Perhaps it will help.

What is the configuration of the Bushtec electrical system?
All Bushtec trailers are built with a 6 wire electrical harness. This system is designed to support separate signal feeds from the motorcycle for optimal visibility at the rear of the trailer. Color codes are as follows:

Green - Taillights

Blue - Brake

Yellow - Right Turn

Brown - Left Turn

White - Ground

Black - Interior Light (auxiliary)

Bushtec trailers feature an auxiliary lead that allows the interior light to be run on a separate lead that can be connected via a 12V hot source on the motorcycle. However, we recommend that the interior light be run in conjunction with the taillights to assure that it is turned off when the ignition is turned off, thereby eliminating the possibility of drawing down the battery due to a 12V hot light source. This auxiliary lead can also be used through a switched circuit for the addition of auxiliary lighting on the trailer, such as LED’s or neon.

When I started down the trailer road, I bought a auto parts store adapter to convert 5-wire to 4-wire.  I could not get it to work right.  Cannot remember the issues I had, but just not right.

I then bought a universal harness that had the same main plug end as my '09 SERG.  Kuryakyn had the harness and their converter.  I bought them and had no issues after that.

I took back the auto converter and they said, oh, it may not work on motorcycles.

You probably have the correct converter, but just thought I'd throw out the compatibility issues I had.

I just checked each circuit with a simple probe with light inside and alligator ground. I used the relay first time then one day no lights. The relay went bad so went without since works fine.
