Ooops, saw the title and thought there was some new Screamin' Eagle starting handle to stick in and turn the engine over with.

harley still uses the same press together crank as the twin cam

There are additional reasons for this like being able to install a TimKen bearing to handle more power, (no room today to do so) lightening the crank / removing “counter Balancers” but give Frank or P3R a call for the intricate details.

Also the new crank is about 16 pounds lighter.
