Front wheel drifting after new tires
« on: January 08, 2018, 07:17:56 PM »

I just replaced my tires on 2014 FLHTKSE (35k miles). After I picked it up from the shop, I noticed it's drifting left or right and doesn't ride true. I've ridden about 125 miles on the new tires.I didn't have this problem before when I replaced tires at 18k. And I've never had a problem with this bike being balanced until now. Any suggestions?

The obvious answer is to return immediately to the shop that sold and installed the tires.  A tire may be defective or improperly mounted to the rim, they may have screwed something up when they reinstalled the tires and wheels to the bike, etc.  Btw, you wouldn't be the first to get a new tire with internal defects that caused the kind of problem you mentioned.  Also, check the  basics like the tire pressures.

Had a faulty Dunlop installed on the rear before. They told me it was my imagination!! Had it changed at another dealer, who pointed it out.

I’ve had faulty Dunlop tires installed on rear of two different bikes over the years. It happens.

Same here.  Have had bad tires installed, had to be replaced for the bike to track correctly.

Several other things can also cause this.

I doubt that the issue of defective new tires is exclusive to Dunlop but the two instances I had were Dunlop tires.  For several years I've run Michelin Commander 2s on my bikes and have had no problem at all.
