Cvo RG vs SG
« on: January 15, 2018, 09:11:18 PM »

Im about to pull the trigger and order a CVO RG in gunship grey currently have a 14 cvo road king with a batwing fairing i normally run a 6.5 inch klock and have decent wind protection was wondering the people on here that have gone from bat to shark how is the wind protection ? im thinking of ordering a 14 or 15 inch freedom shield or a 14" Klock im wondering how the wind protection will be for a tall guy 6'3" dont want to spend that kind of money and be disappointed. any opinions or advice would help.

you're a tall guy, i'm not.  but either way, you will find that the stock hd windshield is less than optimal.  i went with the lrs mako in 12''.  even though it is 12'' and the stock harley shield is 12'', the mako actually sits up a inch or so higher.  it isn't as 'laid back' as the wind splitter.  it is also a little wider at the top.  i find it works great.  much calmer air behind it, less wind noise in my ears, and i can hear the stereo better.

being a tall guy like you are, i would recommend either a freedom shield or an lrs.  either one of those companies can give recommendations based on your height, and if you order either one, you can try it (without removing the plastic covering) and if it isn't to your liking, then send it back for an exchange or refund.

lrs has a big sale going on right now where you could pick up a shield for less than $100, and i've never heard any bad things about freedom shields (other than a little on the pricey side).  good luck, and welcome to the tank.

I am thinking the Klock Works 14 Sport flair will be a little short for you.  I have the gunship gray with a Klcok Works 14 Sport Flair on it, and am 6'1" and its barley tall enough for me.

Don't get me wrong I love my shark. But trying to find a screen for me at 6'2" is not so bad, but finding something tall enough to keep wind off the wife is impossible. I even put a 14" on there and it not only doesn't work its very ugly.

Im 6'3".....used 13 windvest on my 2012 and have same on my 2018.....no problem, they work great! I will qualify that by saying I run fairing lowers too.....they make a HUGE difference no matter what windsield you use.

I really like the gunship at first I wanted black but couldn’t find one but now after seeing it I think I like the grey more the color matched wheels are cool too.

I'm 6-2 and running the Freedom 14" shield.  Wind hits my helmet just above my eyes and I'm looking over shield a couple of inches.  Freedom recommended the 15" for me when I first ordered but I was afraid of looking right at the top edge.  In hindsight it would have been about right and still looking over it.  I'm still happy with the appearance, wind and forward vision of the 14".  I like their light tint but several friends have their medium tint which looks nice but a little less vision through it at night. Might look nice on the gray bike.
