cvo 117 race kit vs cvo 117 street kit?
« on: March 12, 2018, 12:29:26 PM »

I'm in the process of purchasing a 2011 cvo street glide that has the 117 kit installed in it. This will be my first CVO, but not my first harley. The previous owner said it was installed in 2015, which would be before the release of the 117 street kit.

I have scoured around a bit, but I can't really find what the difference is between the 117 race kit which is no longer offered and the 117 street kit which is for CVO's that are 2014 and up.

Does anyone know the difference?

The race kit part number is 92500053 and the street kit part number is 92500055.

My main area for concern is in terms of reliability. The bike is mint, I have been talking to the seller for a month now which has built trust into this relationship. I know what I want and have been looking for over a year now, a 2010-2012 cvo street glide, I'm getting one of these bikes so its just a matter of which one.

The reason the seller is selling it is because he ended up buying a 2018 cvo street glide for himself and a brand new trike for his wife. The price point is in line with what these bikes are going for, so its not the cheapest, but its not the most expensive from what some are asking, and it only has 10k miles on it. He said the reason he went with the 117 kit was at the time his dealer was running a special for the kit and installation at $4k, and he wanted more power, so he felt it was a good deal when he did it. He's put on about 4k miles since having the kit installed, and all work and service has been done at his local Harley dealership in Tampa Florida.

Outside of the kit, it has vance and hines dresser duals ( true duals ) and vance and hines monster rounds as far as performance upgrades go.

Any pertinent information would be appreciated.

Both the 055 and 053 are both still available from Harley. The one ending in 53 is for 2008 to 2013 models. The 055 version is for the new Rushmore model twin cams.2014-16. You can see the specs in the 2017 screaming eagle performance catalog  they are on pages 58 and 59. And they are both listed as screaming eagle twin cam bolt on 110 CI to 117 CI kits

The main difference is that one is street legal (as long as you use the required Harley calibration), and the other is not (used illegal tunes).  The only difference in the listed kit contents was the heavy duty clutch spring in the older kit.  See attachment.

The other only difference id the pre 2014 has the heavy duty clutch spring ...... the 2014 and up does not because all those clutched are the slip and adjust hydraulic clutches. I did a parts list comparison since I just ordered the kit for my 2013 CVO RoadGlide and since I have the Slip and assist clutch I could use the 2014 and up kit
