Cordless blue tooth

I have a 2017 CVO limited, can my boom box be upgraded to the 2018 where they have the Bluetooth addition, or is it more involved than that?

If you are referring to the wireless headset for com communications, the answer is yes. In fact, “WHIM” can be added to any BOOM system from 2014-2017. It became standard in the 2018 CVO Limited. https://mstore.harley-davidson.com/store/wireless-headset-interface-module

Personally I prefer the plug in corded headset on both of my CVO Ultras as there’s no batteries to go dead on a long ride.

Think I saw somewhere that the "WHIM" upgrade disables use of corded headsets.  Don't know for certain but that would be a big consideration since I still have 4 corded headsets between my wife and I.  Ill probably wait for next bike to take the plunge and upgrade everything.

The whim doesn’t effect the wired com. Ports. You can use one or the other or both at the same time.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but I have the iPod module on my '09 and it still had the 30-pin connector.  I have a Bluetooth adapter that I plug onto the cord in my right side fairing box, SERG, and I just put the head unit on iPod and my phone streams through the Bluetooth adapter.  These are dirt cheap now.  I just bought three for $9.99 and free shipping.  Range isn't very good, but on the bike it's not an issue.

I too have a 18 CVO Road Glide.  I also prefer the older  plug in corded head sets.  No batteries to die 7 hours into the ride.  Phone calls are clearer and easier to hear with the corded headset also. 

It is nice to not have to plug in, and not have the cord, but not worth the money if I had to buy it.

Incorrect. 

I have to open the fairing and unplug my WHIM so that I can use my wired headset microphone.  With the WHIM installed, the wired microphones do NOT work.

I guess I should feel good about having that much money to waste on stuff, but for some reason I don't...
