half helmet
« on: April 05, 2007, 10:57:49 PM »

Does anyone make a half helmet that has the option of snapping on a full face shield for those rainy days?  I like the half helmet much better then a 3/4 or full helmet, because I can hear better - and feel safer, but if I am going to wear a helmet in the rain, it doesn't make much sense to have a face full of rain.   :-\

Scott,
Bell helmets makes a Shorty w/three snap visors (see below). You can then get a 3 snap flip shield.

I'm sure there are other brands out there. You just need to find a shorty that has the 3 snap visor and you can get the flip up shield.

Scott,
I have the 1/2 helmet by J&M (KBC type). Has zip in/out lower half for CB/intercom, and visor can snap off with placement of shield especially for rain. John

John, is the mic boom connected in the zip on part of the helmet?  That is what it looks like, rather than attached to the helmet.

Yes, it is built into the zip off portion. Not as easy to hear as full face or 3/4 helmet. Put since use as commo with tail end rider and CB works fine for me. Also can zip off if solo riding. Helmet very comfortable, but if wearing do rag think about size larger as is very padded. John

Thanks John, I have the factory stock set up currently bolted to mine, but I like the Idea of having it on the zipper so as you say it can be  of when riding solo.
