Operator Activated Heat Management

Just wonder what anyone knows about this.  Understand that on '08s dealer can upload this so that 'rolling back' on the throttle for like 3 seconds will put engine into heat management mode on demand.

What will they think of next?  How about a pair of midgets that jump out of your hard bags and blow on the engine?  Or void the  warranty if the engine if ridden above 40 degrees F as recorded by the ECM.  Or maybe a radiator?

I think HD is responsible for the polar bears wearing sunblock.  Global warminig for sure.

No chit.  I never heard of this until a few weeks ago.  WTF, we got the ecm taking it into heat mgt, then eitms, now this where operator can override and do it manually on demand.  But hey, there is no problem and they all do it, right?

See your problem is you didn't get an SEUC. Had you gotten that instead of a SERK you would have gotten the trunk monkey that jumps out of the new King Tour Pack. Why do you think they switched from the leather ones? They needed the extra space.

From an '08 non-CVO Touring Owner's Manual:

Quote
Vehicles are delivered from the factory with EITMS daisabled.
EITMS can be enabled or disabled by the rider using the following proceedure.

1. Turn the ingnition switch to the ON position (do not start the motorcycle)

2. Push the throttle to roll-off position and hold.

3. After approx. 3 seconds, the cruise indicator lamp will will either flash green(EITMS enabled) or red (EITMS diabled)

4. Repeat the procedure  as needed to enable or diable EITMS.

Or you could use the accessory switch to shut off the rear injector manually!  Ha

For the '07 & '08 CUSE2 & CUSE3, the EITMS (heat management system) must be enabled using the "digital tech" at a HD dealer.

Or if you have a SERT you can enable or disable EITMS via a selection in the map you load.

Absolutely true!  I am a big fan of SERT, but don't use it on the '08 because HD has been so b....y about their warranties lately.

Recently, with 3k miles, the head gasket began leaking (same 'ol story).  HD wanted to only change the head gaskets and nothing else, even though the liners had moved.  They said it had to move at least .005" before they would change the barrels.  The local tech fought for me and got new barrels, but then they told him to use the old rings because they only had 3k on them and weren't worn out yet.  Give me a break!  The tech again fought for me and got new rings.  It sure seems that HD is going to H... in a hand basket.  Now that it's running again, I enjoy it; but after four Harley's, I'll not buy another!  I guess I got off the subject a little, oh well!!!
