NOBODY rides my bike.  period.  I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something went wrong and they got hurt.  I don't even like my service guy, so if he gets hurt, oh well, dammit.

I try not be a borrower, but some circumstances make it okay.  I don't mind lending, but not stuff that can hurt you...

I now think I am wierd.     :coolblue:

I've loaned my bikes to people I know in the past. I expect it to be treated at least as good, if not better, than I treat them myself. That has always been the case. I've had folks from this site come and visit here bikeless. The only way I can show them around is on one of my bikes. How could Nige and Jan come in from England and not use my SERK to tour here? They left here with memories that can't be bought!!! I try to be careful as to who I'll loan it to. But it's a machine and can be fixed. And I know whomever I lend it to will take care of it, and be responsible for fixing it, if they screw it up. Outside of that, chit happens! I'm careful who I lend it to, but until I get truly burned, I guess I'll look at this a little different from most of ya'll!!! :2vrolijk_21: ;)

for the most part it really doesn't bother me
I have tried to give my bike to others just as a loaner and most will not take me up on it

It is just a piece of equipment.......it can be replaced (not the crown jewels)

I certainly would not lend it out to irresponsible or untrained riders, but any of my rider friends would not only take care of it and return it in good shape
they would probably try to return it in better shape if that was possible

You only go round once in life.......

Only to close friends or people I really trust. If they trust me to ride theirs in turn I trust them.. I just got my 04' FLHTCSE and had to swap bikes with a buddy to hear how mine sounded. That was a little harder it was the first day I had it and my first CVO bike. It was worth it, man do I love this bike!!!!!!

Being originally from the north east, I get old  friends that want to come visit in the winter months down here. NOBODY rides my SERG but me, period....now my softail, thats a different story. Old time friends with good riding skills are certainly welcome to it. But so far none have taken me up on the offer, it might be the jockey shift and suide clutch that puts them off a bit  :nixweiss:
I too do not borrow anyone elses bike, nor do i take it down the road for a spin. As far as borrowing other things...my truck...NO, the Vette...NO. Tools or equipment I have, may be borrowed, but when the borrowwer asks....he is informed of my policy. You may borrow said item twice, if a third times arises that you need to borrow said item again . the answer is no, because it seems like you need to own one of these items as much as i do.....so go buy the damn thing :orange:

My husband, my mechanic, and many of you CVO folks.....certainly including YOU, Elvislee!  People who have any sense dont ask unless the circustances are dire and emergent. But I would not worry about others like the CVO folks who love their scooters as much as I love mine. And Elvislee can have free rein any time he wants.

Right back at ya Abby and Plasmaman...I'm sure you know I would give ya the shirt off my back as I would with many others on this site.  :2vrolijk_21:

Dear old Dad taught me how to ride at four... he was a lifetime rider himself.

He passed on some words of wisdom to me that I will share here.

He said "Murphy, there are two things you never do in this world... first you never lend your motorcycle, and second you never pee against the wind!"

I tested the pee against the wind thing once... found out he was right!

Thought I didint need to learn the bike lesson the hard way and just took his word for it!!!!
