York CVO Tour
« on: July 20, 2005, 12:05:06 PM »

Quesiton...Back in May, there was a tour of the CVO plant in York, PA  Was that something was specially arranged?  I went to the York plant recently and they told me they to not give tours of the CVO plant.  Would be interested in doing this of it come up again.

That was a great sidebar from the whole Maggie Valley thing boys and girls.  I'm really glad we did that.  The WeCvo's preformed way above and beyond the call to get there.  DCFireman froze his 'nads off riding in that morning.  Screamin' and Mrs Screamin' road tripped in from I don't remember where to see the show, Neal and his brother took the scenic route from Maggie Valley and WFP and I pounded pavement about 600 miles of a long and coolish day enjoying a great ride to get in to York.

I'm no doubt forgetting others at the moment but everyone had a wonderful time.  If I never took the opportunity to say this before let me do it now, that was a fun day guys; thanks for showing up and making it possible.

ThatRhinoGuy and his lovely wife were there as well.  And yes, it was a great tour of the plant and we had a real good time. It was very interesting to see just how the CVOs are put together.   Thanks to everyone for making it special, and WFP, thanks for taking the lead on the coats. What a splendid idea it has been.

I got one of these up in my cube too, plus the one from Maggie Valley, plus the one of ThatRhinoGuy, Lugnut57 and myself posing with model at Patriot HD Open house.

The two names you were searching for are ThatRhinoGuy and his wife

This was one ride that I really wished I could have attended......probably more than any other this year.

Let's see.......I think the kudos go to 103 tHunDer for coming up with the idea and writing the initial letters.  And to Twolane, for taking the ball and running with it in organizing it with the MoCo........as a moderator of this site, I thank both of you! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

And JC should really toot his own horn on this one (as long as it doesn't sound like the aflac duck).  He initiated the contact with the MOCO with his inside connections...I offer you my sincerest thanks... [smiley=beerchug.gif] as well as Twolane who handled the logistics.

The MOCO welcomed us and allowed us a tour of the CVO assembly lane...and there is no way they give out any upcoming secrets to the floor people.  They leave on Friday and come in on Monday assembling a completely different bike.

I will take credit for one thing...I kept nudging to include this on the Monday after the Soggy Valley gatherin'...it just seemed like the best thing to do and especially to do it M-F so that we can see the main assembly line people taking their breaks...well at least a couple of them.

Again, the next one should be during the week so that the lines are in operation.

Been There, Done That, got the Custom Jacket!

It was a really interesting and a fun stop JC.  But even though you couldn't make it in person don't worry that several of us didn't feel you there in spirit.  We knew you were watching.  In fact I'm pretty sure there was some spectral jacket running around the gift shop all by itself all "ghostie" like.  Hmmmm, JC the Friendly Ghost ?

FROZEN NADS !!!!!!! Thats an understatement. Man that might be the coldest ride I have taken in a long while. I don't know what I was thinking that morning. No lowers and no chaps. It was warm on top of the mountain that morning when I left but when I got down in the valley it was cold as CHIT!!!!!! And got colder the farther north I went. I even saw frost on the ground once I passed the mason-Dixon line!

Thanks for the good memories we need to do that tour again so we all can get our jackets!
