SE Fork Brace
« on: August 31, 2005, 02:38:30 PM »

Despite what the Dealer says,  while at Club HOG I saw 2 FXDWG2's with the SE Fork Brace  , both guys said it worked great as did another regular WG owner.

The trick is to flip the bracket on the fork legs .

Does that bracket actually contact the painted fender surface?

Sure looks like it in that photo.  Nidan, is that your bike or do you have a blue one?

It comes real close , and no it's not mine , I do have a blue one.

I've found a more elegant one , that I hope will fit.

the 3 guys I've talked to all said they helped.  Mine handles OK , but better is always nice.  I've had fork braces on two other bikes and they are a good thing.

I have had one on my FXDWG3 since June of 02.  Everyone told me it would not fit.  It fits perfect.

Dear Nidan,

I went to the link (web-dynamix) back in Dec. 05' and saw the fork brace on your FXDWG3. today, there is no picture available. The only picture remaining is for a wide glide and totally different from yours. I liked your picture showing the "arch" of the brace. My question, what exactly (i.e., model #) did you order? I'm looking to add one to my FXDWG2 this spring. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Nidan,

Much thanks for the information. Again, the web-dynamix site did not have a picture however a price; a steep $220.00 plus I did not care for the looks. A quick peak in Google with your part number (I did not know it was HD) revealed another site; Surdyke at $106. Again, no picture. However, all Harley dealers are selling them for $129.95 that looks like your picture. With your local discounts/specials, that's pretty darn good. Thanks again. I can't wait to purchase and install.

thanks , she's one bike of the week 3 times on different forums.

Now that I have the new motor built up , the next step is the fork brace. I'm thinking of getting the one from http://customcycleengineering.com as I think it is much better looking than the SE one.  THe 06 SE brace is much nicer looking but of course doesn't fit.

Confirmation again that this mod works. It is because of this board and others sharing their experiences that I could over ride the Moco and show my service manager that the fork brace would, in fact, work on the WG2. Thanks to all the folks who post here and share their knowledge!
