Plan on installing mid controls on my recently acquired FXR4.
Apparently can't get the shaft sleeve anymore (obsolete>34671-99). Numerous sleeves available for dyna and early FXR's. Before I order another sleeve I thought I'd see if anyone knew the length of the FXR4 'sleeve'. I think the primaries are (-99) covers so they may vary from the FXR 3's & 4's??
If I remember from years ago the sleeve was a plastic tube with the o-rings on each end/ I assume it's there to keep the oil 'splash' of the shaft and migrating out the inner and outer primary covers.

The heim joint shift linkage(33779-99) is also obsolete/ I'm sure aftermarket has it OR use current Dyna??  Can someone measure there length of the OEM linkage bolt-to-bolt/ Thanks

I don't know what the shaft sleeve is ........ but since he listed the part number, I guess I can look it up in the parts manual ...

I can measure the linkage arm, if that will help  ?

That vulcanworks part is the 'sleeve' I was referring to. It may be an option/ I'll send a query to them!!!
Thanks
If anyone does have the sleeve on there parts shelf, would still appreciate a measurement.
Numerous sleeves are still available; i.e early fxr and various dyna.
I think measurement required would be:inner side of inner primary to inner side of inspection cover?
Thanks again

contacted Vulcan and they said there sleeve fits all years. I can get a sleeve for the early FXR at the dealer. Will try that; 34362-84B is a good number.

Would like a length though!

Thanks again

Just wondering how you made out with your shifter sleeve.
I've got an FXR4 as well and wanted to follow up with you.
Might need one myself.

SO MUCH DRAMA ON THE SHIFTER TUBE
I got appendicitis while bike was on lift multiple projects and other issues...
my shift shaft had slightest tweak on the spline end and would not slide into the badass brass sleeved billet tube I got from a vendor I forgot the name of.  I bought a new chrome shaft and the layer of chrome near the splines prevented it sliding into the tube....
so with a fine file, calipers and a twelve pack of corona took off .00mutherfers off and it slides in very very fine like a clock.
I have to be in the clear right? No. There is a notch on the boogered sleeve I am replacing have had no idea why it is there asked a lot of people no one knows or isn't/hasn't had to deal with it.
Well that notch is the clearance for the primary cover. Got it all together, had to take it all apart and reproduce the notch with a file die grinder and more beer.
