RPMs and Speedo accuracy
« on: June 27, 2010, 08:58:50 PM »

Just as the NASCAR drivers determine pit road speed, I am wondering about the calibration /accuracy of the speedometer on my FXR4.  I did replace the speed sending unit last month, but they are all the same as far as i Know.  Factory size tires, etc.
At 3000 RPM, the speed read 50MPH, but I was passing cars on the highway.  No windshield and I ride the Street Glide a lot so I've apparently lost the "in the wind feel."
Anyone know what 60 MPH would be in RPMs? 50 MPH?
On my street glide 65 is 3000 RPM, so this seems wrong.

Thanks

Great, Thanks.  I found a link to calculate that and determined very similar results.  Field test results are worth more than calculated.

On my stock FXR2, at 2500 rpm I'm running about 60 mph.

Got these results from my FXR3 today:
2500 rpm @ 60 mph  :)
2800 rpm @ 70 mph  :D
3200 rpm @ 80 mph  ;D
3800 rpm @ 90 mph  :orange:
Too much traffic to get up any higher.  8)

You're welcome,  :2vrolijk_21: Didn't record 50 mph because I'm in 4th gear.
