V&H vs Reinhart
« on: June 06, 2011, 02:16:26 PM »

Looking for a little more grunt out of my '11 RG CVO.  Dont want to go the true dual route just want to add a throaty slip on.  I like the V&H 4" Monster Rounds and the 4" Reinhart slip ons.  Any feedback on main differences is appreciated...

That's mainly a preference. I have the Rineharts slip ons and the VH front pipes and this combo is real loud. I heard that VH are less loud and have a deeper tone.

Yup, if you want throaty go with the Rineharts over the Monster Rounds.

Do look into the Bassani choices...... it's voo-doo stuff.

Installing a slip on and keeping the oe catalyst headpipe and air cleaner will only yield more sound, NOT grunt as you're looking for.
You invested alot of your $ to purchase what you have, so you need to spend a little more to get the result you're looking for  :nixweiss:
The biggest bang for the $ imo would be installing this set up (see link below) tried and trued by many here with strong feedback.
Exhaust is very subjective, I get it.....hope this helps... Ride On  :2vrolijk_21:

Swapping the Head pipe is a must, at the very least do a search on the site for gutting your CAT, on the bike not fluffy, and go through that process. I am switching to the Fullsac X pipe for two reasons. 1: Doesn't matter as much what I do with the slip-ons since the back pressure is managed by the restriction in the X pipe. You might swap out a couple ft/lb for HP but not enough to really matter in my opinion. 2: Oddly enough it just sounds a little better than the gutted CAT, I listened to both of them and liked the X pipe better. The extra couple of horsepower was not really the incentive, I just can't imagine a situation on this bike where a few more ponies would make a difference. In theory the X-Pipe would run cooler since it is ceramic coated, but that is just a theory.

Hey guys thanks for your feedback...just installed the Rinehart 4" slip ons yesterday.  It was a very easy install on the Road Glide, looks awesome (plus I got rid of the heat shields around the muffler) and sounds awesome.  I can't say for sure that it runs stronger, although it feels that it does, but I never had an issue with the power of the 110 anyway.

I think he's referring to getting rid of the cat.
