Reduced heat on roadglide cvo
« on: May 04, 2012, 07:33:28 PM »

Went to bike rally and was told that the rush header pipes help with the heat. Rush head pipes are ceramic coated inside and outside. I put the V&H true dual header pipes couple months ago with Harley race tuner, still seems heat to me. Has anyone put Rush on their Touring cvo?

Got the fullsac headpipe on mine ---------also ceramic coated. Still some heat from the right side but not like when it was stock-------------The 110's are just hotter. Don't think you can ever eliminate it totally.

I have a 2012 CVO Road Glide.

I had Doc put the Moto Jackpot HTC Ceramic Jackpot Stainless Steel 2/1/2 head pipes with multi process HTC Ceramic inner /outer coating and the stock mufflers now have Fullsac 2.0” CVO Muffler Cores and Doc used a TTS tuner.

The tuning was done by Doc.  I also think having a person tune the bike that knows what they are doing makes a big difference in the heat department.   :apple:

I live in Florida and doing the above made a big difference.  Still some heat but a lot, lot  less.  :orange:

Ceramic coating is not going to make a big difference in perceived heat, IMO.  Not enough to scrap a perfectly good set of headers.  The tune on the other hand, can make a huge difference.  But, the 110's are just HOT, no matter what you do.

I had significant heat on the right side on my 2011 SERGU - even after having it dyno tuned - and was told by the dealer that it was normal for that engine. I made the mistake of riding in shorts ONCE and the heat was unbearable. That was with V&H Power Duals and 2" Fullsac cores.

My 2012 RG CVO runs much cooler with a similar exhaust setup and tune, which is a nice change. There are no fairing lowers on the new bike, which probably makes a difference. But it feels significantly cooler while stuck in traffic or stopped at lights.
