FXR4 Windshields?
« on: October 26, 2006, 01:47:07 PM »

Hey folks...Does anyone out there own a 2000FXR4 with a windshield? I want to buy one for my 4 but have been seriously pissed of with the Harley Dealers. They either don't seem to know what a 4 is or they act like they don't want to screw with it when you tell them what ya got.

You folks seem to be more knowledgeable than any at the HD places I have been; can any of you give me some input like brand, P/N, windshield height required (5'9" I am), etc, etc....I have a book from J&P Cycles, but I feel like like I'm odering in the blind...thoughts?...Thanks Folks

Here's what I have:

HD Part # 58063-04, also comes in a "lightly smoked" colored glass (part # 58601-04). Runs about $335 for clear, about $370 for tinted. I don't use it much, but my wife loves it. You see, it also fits her '05 Dyna Low Rider.

here's the link to the MoCo page: http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524448765129&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374309125923&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374309125923&bmUID=1161886703005&bmLocale=en_US

and here's the pics...

and a close up of the quick release clamps. By the way, this is the easiest on & off windshield I have ever used - literally less than 30 seconds to install or remove.

Killjoy....

So is that a H-D windshield with quick release clamps?  If so who makes the clamps?  I'd love to replace the old fashioned "slot and grove" type clamps on my H-D windshield and elimnate the brackets off of my fork. I only use the windshield in the winter here in Chicago and for long highway.

Thanks,

The Clamp part number details:
(Note: these are sold individually, if they are compatible with your w/s, you will need 4).

Part Number: 58174-04A
Description: Clamp Assembly, 39mm
List Price: $23.95

Note: This PN "assembly" did NOT include the hardware required to install on the windshield. Hardware required (per clamp): bolt (1), washers (2) and spacer (1). I do not have those PN's, as I did not need the hardware because I was replacing an existing clamp - but your Stealer should at least be able to help you with something as simple as that.
