I posted photo but earlier post did not upload i guess.  This fxr3 is my first and only blue fxr3. I've owned other models but these are hard to find with low miles and good condition. Road her some today, handles best of most any harlies built. I;'ve heard they built total of 900 units, 450 green, 450 blue..but you only see green ones up for sale or at rallies..just few blue versions ever show up.  I just recently found 3 blue models up for sale, the one i purchsed, one in Austin, tx. and one in Pa. If anyone is interested i'll fill ya in on details of these other units. Again i feel these bikes handle so much better than current bikes..they should not have changed frame design for later model dynas.  It was cost saving move in building bikes so we are not getting the bang for the bucks in current bikes,  at least I feel that way. Plenty of work went into these first cvo's on frame no longer in production, where as new cvo's are dolled up regular production bikes ..just loaded w/ accessories and cost saving to consumer.  Oh , well..just happy to be back in fxr3 and enjoy it riding and handling!  Bye the way   most harley shops with new breed of sales folks don't even know what these bikes are.  I;'ve called  couple of them about one they have for sale and they dont even know they are cvo's.  Don't  know product they are selling!  Have good year of riding..start it out right  by getting on yours today and hit the road.....even if for just a few minutes...its good for ya..and good for the bike too!   dave

Same with the 4's, except obviously Yellow vs. Tangerine. I have seen lots of Yellow's in my travels, but have never come accross another Tangerine like mine. I heard that production numbers for the 4 were also "around 900" - but I've heard the distribution favored Yellow with around 600 Yellow and only about 300 Tangerine. Does this explain why we don't see the Blues & Oranges that often? Is it even true? Who knows. Great bikes though, the best ever built.

It is amazing how little is known about them.  I never really was exposed to them until I came here.  Now I see a few around from time to time.  Someone in Charlotte has a Tangerine, and I see him rumble by once in a while.  Only one of those I have ever seen.  SWEET! [smiley=orange.gif]

Beautiful hdfxr. That's probably the best looking FXR Harley ever made. And the FXR's were the best rubber-mount street bike they made. That one looks like a keeper. If your asking, I like these bikes with mid-controls. But it depends on your riding style. JMO. Good luck with it. Great bike! ;) Hoist!  8-)

Hard10, thanks for the pics.

It is interesting to see what other folks have done to theirs. I thought about the Thunderstar front rim, but decided against it for mine (although I completely understand why he wanted out of the aluminum hub & laced rim). I'm always amazed at how many folks can't deal with the straight drag bars, and change to pull back bars, although this one isn't that dramatic. I LOVE my drags... and the windshield? well, its interesting anyway. If everyone had my taste though, we'd all have the same bike - and where would that get us?

Thanks again for the pics...

Thannks for the photos, Hard10.  Good contribution to the FXR pages.

Hdfxr3:  About forward controls, I've always preferred to have mid controls plus highway pegs up front.  I like having more than one place to put my feet and find the mids more appropriate when leaning through a turn.  That's just my opinion and what I'm comfortable with.  Obviously, forward controls are quite popular.  You decide.

You got my curiosity up so I looked at the Pompano website and the FXR4 isn't listed but this FXR3 is.  29K miles and mods as you can see.  No price, however--they say call.  Remember, Pompano is a Bruce Rossmeyer store so any price info from them needs to be taken with the "Rossmeyer price" (in other words:  high as heck) factor in consideration.

Hdfxr3,

Regarding foward controls on the FXR3.  I have Accutronix foward controls and I was able to leave the mid control foot pegs right where they were.  Not sure if you have the stock pegs still but I like the option to move my feet in at highway spreeds over long distances.  I also added Harley heel rests to my forward controls.  This I should have done YEARS ago!  It makes a huge difference in comfort and it helps keep my feet from "flying" off at high speeds. I have also notices less burned heel rubber on my pipes since I got the heel rests.

I will post pics this week

That's my major problem with FWD controls however pointy toed cowboy boots, being more aerodynamic than other styles, have much less lift at high speeds.  ;)

There is a Blue 99 FXR3 on eBay right now.  The guy is stating that he has a letter documenting there were only 64 Blue/Flame 1999 FXR3 ever made.  620 Green, but only 64 Blue?  That would be a rare bike!

I bet he's talking about my letter--probably copied it off this board.  Check the "Production numbers" thread.

Red,
Actually, me and my buddy Animal from Ormand Beach were thinking of printing up T-shirts with his picture on em and "Fat Bastard" over the top and underneath, "Get in my wallet "  I made up some Bruce bucks with his picture instead of Washington and " Fat Bastard " where it says Washington under the picture. We went over to Destination " ScrewBikers" and dropped some on the ground during Biketoberfest. People were picking em up and laughing the asses off. I bitched out the girl at the beer kiosk because I couldn't buy Fat Bastard beer    :D :D

Now that I've stopped laughing (and it took a while, let me tell you :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:), I'm sure Rossmeyer will have this on sale by Biketoberfest:

And since good old Bruce never misses a chance to make money, maybe he'll come out with a whole line of "Get In My Wallet" products, available only at Destination Screwbikers, of course.  Prices starting at reasonable x 10.

There is a Blue 99 FXR3 on eBay right now.  The guy is stating that he has a letter documenting there were only 64 Blue/Flame 1999 FXR3 ever made.  620 Green, but only 64 Blue?  That would be a rare bike!

According to HD...64 is the number, with a total of 684 for the entire run. Which contradicts the factory statements of "around 900"

Either way, I'd love a Blue...to complete the set :)
