HDFXR3, Welcome to the site. Nice scoot.

Same with the 4's, except obviously Yellow vs. Tangerine. I have seen lots of Yellow's in my travels, but have never come accross another Tangerine like mine. I heard that production numbers for the 4 were also "around 900" - but I've heard the distribution favored Yellow with around 600 Yellow and only about 300 Tangerine. Does this explain why we don't see the Blues & Oranges that often? Is it even true? Who knows. Great bikes though, the best ever built.

There are several "rants" in this very section about that topic. We all have shared your experience with the Stealership guys, and we all left shaking our heads the same way you did.  :-/

Here is some pix from Pompano HD from back in March '06

Hard10, thanks for the pics.

It is interesting to see what other folks have done to theirs. I thought about the Thunderstar front rim, but decided against it for mine (although I completely understand why he wanted out of the aluminum hub & laced rim). I'm always amazed at how many folks can't deal with the straight drag bars, and change to pull back bars, although this one isn't that dramatic. I LOVE my drags... and the windshield? well, its interesting anyway. If everyone had my taste though, we'd all have the same bike - and where would that get us?

Thanks again for the pics...

Thannks for the photos, Hard10.  Good contribution to the FXR pages.

Hdfxr3:  About forward controls, I've always preferred to have mid controls plus highway pegs up front.  I like having more than one place to put my feet and find the mids more appropriate when leaning through a turn.  That's just my opinion and what I'm comfortable with.  Obviously, forward controls are quite popular.  You decide.

You got my curiosity up so I looked at the Pompano website and the FXR4 isn't listed but this FXR3 is.  29K miles and mods as you can see.  No price, however--they say call.  Remember, Pompano is a Bruce Rossmeyer store so any price info from them needs to be taken with the "Rossmeyer price" (in other words:  high as heck) factor in consideration.

Hdfxr3,

Regarding foward controls on the FXR3.  I have Accutronix foward controls and I was able to leave the mid control foot pegs right where they were.  Not sure if you have the stock pegs still but I like the option to move my feet in at highway spreeds over long distances.  I also added Harley heel rests to my forward controls.  This I should have done YEARS ago!  It makes a huge difference in comfort and it helps keep my feet from "flying" off at high speeds. I have also notices less burned heel rubber on my pipes since I got the heel rests.

I will post pics this week

That's my major problem with FWD controls however pointy toed cowboy boots, being more aerodynamic than other styles, have much less lift at high speeds.  ;)

There is a Blue 99 FXR3 on eBay right now.  The guy is stating that he has a letter documenting there were only 64 Blue/Flame 1999 FXR3 ever made.  620 Green, but only 64 Blue?  That would be a rare bike!

I thought it was odd he didn't post a pic of the actual bike in the sale.  :nixweiss:

I bet he's talking about my letter--probably copied it off this board.  Check the "Production numbers" thread.
