Twisted throttle today to to 5K RPM !
« on: January 28, 2013, 06:31:10 PM »

Well today I run my bike pretty hard for the 1st time. Run 4th gear to 92 MPH at 5k rpm, 5th gear to 115 at 5k then shifted to 6 the gear at 115 but decided that was fast enough. Did not want to break my elec. tach.
I guess it could easily top out at 135/140 but I chickened out. Maybe it would be different if I was not 58.
Bike runs Great!

Greg, I think he posted numbers a while back, something like 100+ HP and 100+ TQ with a 6 speed transmission.

I know of two people in my area had their motors blown on Dynometers.  One was a 120 Ultimate and the other a 117 EVO. They make you sign a waiver that they are not responssble for damages. If anyone is going to blow it up it will be me! S&S V111 site states 116 HP/122TQ. I have custom S.S. stepped 2 into 1 collector that breaths very well with a great exhaust note!
Thanks

I am running the S&S ignition that is in the nose cone. It came with the motor. Not the IST type ignition. It was the cheaper opinion. I got my motor on sale December of 2011 for 4550 Buck. Put over 25k miles onto so far. It is their touring motor that packs a lot of power.

Ok so here we go....114.....115....11 <~~~~~~and WHAT  :nixweiss:

LOL I got 115 out of my little ole engine rebuild....

Hey at 115 mph on these bikes...well let's just say ok....fast enough really.... ;D

Good for you to hold back...no sense doing something that is not wise....as we all know most people who are afraid of heights and can not stand next to the edge of a building are typically fearful that they might actually jump off.....lol....

It's more fun to go into curves and come out curves than go fast in a straight line anyway....

Don't allow my comments to challenge you...I wouldn't want you hurting that BIG BAD ENGINE..... :cucumber:

Nice job.....

Regards,

Tim

I would agree - I like the power for acceleration much more than speed. I use the power in the twisties to squeeze more out just like great tires/brakes/shocks etc. Power = go faster, brakes = go slower. Nice to have upgraded components for max fun in the curves...

Personally at 100+ I am loosing that thrill and have oh how far can I see feeling. I hope the surface is OK. Guess more concern than fun. I rather be on a controlled track for that stuff to remove as much risk as possible. Being old also, my reactions and eye site are not what the used to be...
