HD Kansas City
« on: February 23, 2011, 01:40:44 PM »

I saw the paper this am, where Kansas City union gave consessions to HD
under the threat of moving the operation to York! Just wonder where this
is all going? The quality has gotten worse, now it will happen to the Dyna's
and Sportster's too!

Did the article specify any duration for which operations in KC were guaranteed to continue?  Too many suggestions the last year or so that all production could be handled at York.  Can't help but wonder how secure the KC plant is.

I know it is business as usual but it whizzes me off the way MOCO has pitted different cities against each other to lower the MOCO's cost, increase their profits and continue to reduce the quality of the brand.  May be time for AMF to purchase them again

Other than the quality reference, why would you hold that against them?  That's just good business practice if you ask me.

Tired of seeing top end executives making more and more money at the cost of the people who really do the work in a company and take pride in their jobs.  It is hard to stay loyal to someone when all they do it continue to take from you.  I have several friends who work for them here int eh KC area.  They are hard working dedicated people who pour their heart and soul into their job and they keep having to give up things to stay employed and make a decent living while the Execs get raises, perks etc.

The reason they originally built KS was to save money I thought?
I for one believe they waste too much money driving chit around.
Tomahawk, Menomomee Falls, WI, York PA. Kansas City?
I believe all those should be combined in good old Milwaukee
where it all started.

Just my 2 cents!

I guess the most notable news here is the company will be in KC for another 7 years.  No idea what concessions were made though.

They lose another 145 workers, and those workers when needed will
be temporary, with no benefits. The union said "they have are backs
against the wall". Again I say, do you think they will produce a quality
product now?

I've often wondered about that for years......by truck or by train, it all costs $

Well they have done better in the past, look at what York & Menomonee Falls
are doing now. Wrong colored body panels INSTALLED on CVO's, whitewall & blackwall
tires on the same bike....loose nut's & bolts, etc!
