Title: Oil pouring out of air filter now bike won't start
Post by: Mrwilson3130 on January 02, 2022, 03:19:17 AM
2012 road glide CVO 110 with performance work done (not sure what was done bike was purchased that way) had issues with oil pressure dropping found out that the crank was bad.  Replaced the crank, rode the bike for about 600 miles everything was good.  Rode out today and after riding maybe 120 miles at a pace fluctuating between 60-75 mph the bike loses power and oil starts pouring out the filter.  Once I pull to shoulder shut the bike off it hasn't started since.  Any help, suggestions will be appreciated

Well, could be several things seeing you had engine problems previously. Simple explanation would be engine oil being overfilled and excess blowing into the air intake and clogging up the imjector assembly. Usually a minor amount of oil goes into the air intake and burns off with the gas but oil pouring out of your air intake isn’t normal.

Yes, overfilling oil level on Harleys is anything over one half quart low. When crankshaft was replaced other parts were too such as cam plate, oil pump ect. Care to list the performance work done and parts, did a Harley dealer do the work?

Welcome to the forum and best of luck

Pull the spark plugs and see if oil fouled and check with a bore scope

Have a friend that had a similar experience, his was a plugged oil filter.
Seems the dealer had been taking short cuts doing his services.

Yes Harley did all the work.  Im not sure of what all has been done as dar as performance to the engine.  I do know that it has Tmann parts installed, cam, high volume oil pump and D&D exhaust.  I personally havnt had any upgrades or modifications done sice I've owned the bike.  Bike just turned 10200 miles yesterday.  Very well maintained.  Only had it 4 months but these issues are stressing me.

The crank was replaced while you owned it? Looks like you’re in NC I’d have a civil conversation with someone at dealer that did the work, they may/should stand behind it, the engine had to be totally disassembled to replace the crank so it sounds like something went wrong with that process. I’m sure upon disassembly they could tell what the root problem is, maybe. Hopefully you’ll get this resolved to your satisfaction, keep us updated please.

The 2012 CVO skunk is a good looking ride, again best of luck.

Nothing surprises me anymore, people use to put pride into their work.  :drink:

Yes the crank has been replaced since I owned it.  The oil pressure issue was found after I purchased the bike.  Harley here in Greensboro did all the work so im calling them in AM To get them to figure it out.
