Tachometer Problem
« on: September 01, 2006, 08:32:14 PM »

The other day while cleaning my bike I noticed the hard coat coating was peeling from the bottom up on my tachometer lens. It appears this lens is made of plastic with a hard coating. The plastic underneath is quite soft because I can see scatching now that the surface is comming off. I would hope this would be a warrantable repair but I'm not certain they will see it that way.

Has anyone had simular problems with their tachometer?

I haven't had any peeling that I can see yet.  I have always noticed that the tach lens has a different feel then the speedo lens.  Almost sticky when I try to clean it.  I thought maybe it had some kind of film on it, but it must be the plastic you are talking about.

On mine it looked like the hard coating was shrinking and peeling, not sure why but they did replace the tack under waranty last october.

If it is not covered under warranty you can pick one up for about 190 bucks at a 20% off dealer like Chicago Harley..........
