Fat Boy paint the best ever?
« on: July 12, 2007, 08:19:26 AM »

It is my opinion that the last great eye poppin' paint job is on our fat boyz.  Can we get a poll on that?

I have a tendency to agree Dave. I mean silver/slate gray is super boring as a color combination............that is until it merged with a metal grind to decorate one of the finest works the Company has ever delivered.

As the new 2008's arrive and the newest color magic kits hit the HD catalog's, some of these schemes are truly exciting. Yet none reach me as "Screamin' " as our CVO FatBoys do. All of them. To say one is better is to compare two diamonds both flawless in creation AND in style rankings: the owners give them a 10 every time.  :2vrolijk_09:

There is a red one around here that I ride with.  Even the red, blue and platinum are Kick @ss.  But the purple, haze, and yellow are by far the most exotic the moco has done.  The new springer looks like it has some cool flamework in it, but it's orange.  You got to get tired of orange.  I thought about getting a rk last and this year, but I'm not impressed with the paint at all.  You can get better stuff from the paint shop.  Thats my two cents!

I love Fatboys that was my first Harley. If they would have had a CVO Fatboy in '04 I would've had a hard time not getting another one. I loved asking chicks... "Have you ever rode a Fatboy? Want to (as I rubbed my belly)?" :huepfenlol2:

Well unfortunately, I have to admit that my first was a 883 too.  I grew out of it in an hour.  But my Dad bought so I could learn how to ride, so I didn't complain.  Moved up to the duece from there, and then my first cvo, the FXDWG3.  Which was sold for the best looking bike ever, the cobalt blue and nebula yellow se fat boy.

I can't blame you there, it would be nice to have cruise control and a stereo.  I would have spend a fortune on wheels though.  I dont care for the painted cast wheels they have on them.  If I didn't have a kick@ cvo, I would go for the street glide.  But when I'm 55 and I'm allowed to get one, I will opt for the Road Glide, only for AARP members!

Sounds like a good reason to get another cvo. I found that one bike doesn't fit every situation as far as how and when I ride. Of course its cramped my ocd on the second bike but I'll get that fixed in time.

Aussie, "We" in California; and for other states as well; like to welcome people first, then we let them air out and breathe a little; then the ol' USA "SHOVE OFF". My friend, you welcome and nail the coffin shut in one swift move. I normally would say "Well Done Aussie". But gee, you chip so quickly, we never even saw you type!! lol

I think the CVO fatboy paint is going to be one of the best ever as well.  But if you look at the paint sets for 08 they have allot flame options.  And I even bet the new 08 CVO Dyna's paint might give ours a run for the money.  I haven't seen it in person but it looks damn good on the website!

I have a tendency to agree Dave. I mean silver/slate gray is super boring as a color combination............that is until it merged with a metal grind to decorate one of the finest works the Company has ever delivered.

Kona,

You got it right mate!

Believe it or not Aussie, I had just about put a deposit on a 05 slate fb, when I found a "wolverine" or the yellow/blue fb in Pennsylvania. I actually got my wolverine cheaper than the slate and it was still 05.  Needless to say I went with the 06 for the paint, wheels, and big a$$ rear tire!!!  I thought about selling it and getting a serk, however, I think the paint on the serk's are too generic looking, not unique enough for me.  Now I'm partial to yellow bikes now, or blue.

I like them all, i obviously have my preference, but everytime i see a SEFB i always just stop and look (at times even wiping my chin, lol). They are such beautiful bikes. I do def like the 200mm rear on my 06, i think it was a great addition, like old Emeril L says "lets kick it up a notch", As long as i have had mine, i still just sit a gaze at it in wonder (i told you i was a wee bit sick) after a good cleaning....lol. Seriously tho, i dont believe i could justify the change in paint (short of a crash) for any reason. i wish Harleys custom paint program would reproduce it on our own metal (only for SEFB owners). I might then try a few fender changes, clean things up a little. i would love to see the rear fender clean with my existing paint job, you know loose the fender mounted tail light and license plate. that would look awesome, IMHO.

I know this is off topic but, whats the easiest way to remove the side reflectors from the forks? hehe, i know what a thread jacking hebitch that stratus is...lol. thx in advance.

Thanks ALTUGO! I'm keeping my 06 for a long time! I was at HARLEY dealer yesterday and I saw a COPPER & BLACK FAT BOY it was O.K. but they wanted $21,000.00 for all there 08's, I did not see any 08 SPORTYS, and then they have to spend $2000.00 to get it to run right and not burn up rear cylinder, I see on NADA our FAT BOYS are worth more money than two 07 C.V.O.'s, the DYNA & SPRINGER, its just a couple of hundred dollars but they know our bikes where built with pride and not during a strike procedings and then 3 week strike, and new model year! Not knocking ANY ONES 07 or 08, just glad I do not have to worry my bike is over heating.     PURPLE HAZE.

Ok, I posted this thread and now I have her up for sale!!!  WTF am I thinkin!!! I bought a SEEG, yellow though.  I wanted to have cruise and a radio.  I thought about a street glide, and could have gotten an 08 for under msrp, but I decided to stick with the CVO's for several reasons.  I rode the SEEG for over a hundred miles this morning with my fiancee' and I don't regret my decision.  The only thig I regret is not making enough money earlier in life to afford both of them!!! :bananarock:

I know exactly what you mean Mike. I rode the sefb last Saturday about 95 miles to Alligator Bobs to have a new seat made up for the wifey. I really haven't been riding the sefb since getting the seeg......boy I forgot how much fun that bike was. Put the I-pod in my pocket and just rode the h_ll out of it. All I can say is don't sell your sefb, find a way to keep it you really need both!!!

Thanks Roy, well I'm looking at it this way- it's sitting up at the dealership on consignment with plenty of lookers.  If it doesn't go before the holidays, I may just bring it back home and try a different way.  Once my fiance gets a job, I could financially justify having two bikes.  And then once my daughter starts going to school, I can ride either one to work.  I may just have too many toys, if that is possible.  I bought a pontoon boat in July and I have only used it twice! I've definitely have ridden the  :bananarock: SEEG alot since getting it just two weeks ago, I 've put over 1200 miles on it.  The fat boy on the other hand, I've only put 600 miles on this year.  I'd love to keept it. My dad has two bikes, the SE fat boy in autumn/blue and a yellow road glide.  He only rides the fat boy every once and a while whenever he wants to "terrorize the streets" as he says.  He will trade both next year if they come out with a SE road glide though.  Time will tell.

Whatever way it works out, I wish you the best.

I was trying to sell my 05 red sefb earlier in the season after getting the seeg. (Keep in mind I was up to 5 bikes and the wifey was getting anoyed) After finding the sefb didn't have much of a resale value I found my wifes 05 stock Deluxe did. So I sold three bikes including hers. I'm really glad I did now keeping the two cvo's. She is now driving the sefb from time to time and she is still a little intimidated with driving it because of the money thats in it and I'm sure its a little hard for her to feel like its her bike after I sold her's but she's comming around. She sure doe's look good on it, and she gets an awfull lot of compliments when she goes out. I'm currently having a seat made for her hoping that will get her more into the bike.

Mine has Performance baffle, they should say sets off car alarms everywhere!!!!!!!!! TOO COOL...  Any way like your bike and Header, I had a guy a while back saying 2 in 1 Header Pipes did not look good on Harley........  I think that is one of the cheapest and improves sound around mine are D&D, made right down road from me in Fort Worth Texas, check out web site, I got at least 10 H.P & Torque on Dy-no after 1000 mile service, Oh well running at the mouth sorry guy!  Have a great Day!!     PURPLE HAZE.
