Occasional hard starting?
« on: April 06, 2008, 06:55:36 PM »

I stopped at the dealer for a pit stop. I was there 10 minutes. When I tried to start my bike it cranked over okay (the engine seemed like it was laboring to start, but sounded like the starter was spinning it fast enough).
It didn't start right away, as usual. The starter turned the engine over 4 times and then I rechecked the kill switch and then used the starter 2 more times of 4 turnovers before it started. This happened once before months ago. It is almost as if the timing is off. I have started the bike hundreds of times since the first time this happened, with no problems, until yesterday.
A year and a half back I disconnected the battery and didn't get the cables tight enough, after about 2 weeks I started to get a slow cranking before it would start. It had built up some corrosion between the battery and cables, so once I cleaned them up and re-tightened them every thing was fine. When that happened it would crank over slow, not what it did yesterday and several months ago.
Thought this might happen because of the 103" engine or the SE starter.
Has this happened to any other 2005 SE Fat Boy owner?
