Since the raffle is for a SEEG2 how about a get together for the drawing. Who is up for crashing an open house??  Aug 13 @ 3:00PM

I called to check, only 2500 tickets will be sold. For the benefit of the Peabody School.

ONLY!!!!!!!   That means they will take in a potential $125, 000.00.  dealer Cost is less than $25,000 probably so net is $100,000!  Seems a little skewed if you ask me.  $20 per ticket would be more reasonable.

The object of the raffle is to raise money for the school. They say the dealership donated the bike (they get the charitable contribution deduction). Looks like the 125 K (if they sell all the tickets) goes to the school.

Maybe it's all in how you look at it.  I'd give $50.00 to a good and needy school; especially if knowing that doing so was part of that same school getting 100 or $125k as a result and, purely on the side, I was getting a small chance at a free bike.  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

In my own town, yes, in someone else's, still seems steep.  $25 would be fair...for example, the MA MMA has a raffle for a Softail Deluxe, 2500 Tickets, $20 apiece.  It's all in the relative appearance.

Hey WFP! What the heck is wrong with you? I bet you don't leave a tip for good service either. You ride a 30,000. bike and wouldn't buy a chance at another to help a good cause for 50.00

I fully agree with WFP, and highly admire his frugality.  It is, in fact, the epitomy of frugality in that he saved the cost of a real picture for his avatar, and used a much less expensive picture of a model!

Perhaps the real deal is...  they know thier never going to sell 2500 tickets, so at 25-30% sales like these things usually go, they are still in good shape? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Hey OSMACAT

You have no room to talk.
You have no idea about who WFP is.
Why blast a man you don't even know.
He's a good guy!
Based on what I know about WFP, I am honored to call him a friend.
Can't say that about you.

HELLO, HELLO

Are you sure your not from the Bronx?

Don't be picking in Bill.  Only those of us that have ridden with him 600 miles in a day at 80 mph when it was 45 degrees outside get to do that.  And I ain't doing it !

Besides, I'd be far more likely to do it for a local charity than some unknown (to me) event or need.  We were talking generally, not specifically.  And remember, charity begins at home (so come to my home and be charitable enough to wax my bike, it's a frigging mess right now).

Waugh HD in Orange, VA.  That'd be a 'breakfast run' for WFP.  Especially in these moderate temps.  Har!   [smiley=drink.gif]   spyder

Saturday, August 13th...let me think about it!  One of my nieces in Norfolk has a Birthday on August 4th and we usually plan a trip...I could delay it a week.

I always love a ride to Orange, VA.  This is a destination that is fantastic.  The roads, any of them, from any direction, are wonderful.

The Peabody School  is a private school and can really use some money and the fact that Waugh's is generous enough to donate a bike to help to raise some, I feel is great. Not being a gambler myself, I past on the opportunity to "win" the bike  the last time I was out there.

I will gladly meet others who want to ride to the Open House. It is a fantastic place to go to.  The last time I rode to their Open House I missed getting to meet a few of you that chat here and met a few that I don't recognize here, but who I shared info about this site with. The bottom line, CVO or not - Orange is worth riding to.  Just remember the HD store is closed on Sundays.

If you are out this way any time, may I reccomend a must stop restaurant.  The Silk Mill Grill , 101A East Nelson Street, Orange, Virginia, (540) 672-4010
20 South to the Light, Right on 15, several miles on the Right. A favorite Skydive Orange hang out.

I'm looking for a sponsor(s) right now...$1/ mile, 528 Miles one way.  I then could get ten tickets, pay for gas and still have some left over for beer or two at the The Silk Mill Grill!
