2009 Roadking Classic exhuast
« on: January 04, 2009, 10:30:27 PM »

Fairly new to the site and would appreciate any info about exhausts for 2009, Roadking classic. Have been looking at Vance and Hines "true dual" pipes w/ some slip-ons and Samsons, but open to suggestions. Primarily focused on a loud, deep, clean sound. Secondly, focused on performance. Interested if anybody has any advice? Thanks.

There are so many opinions on exhaust, it depends on a lot of things, the look you want, duels, 2:1, sound, and where you want your power. Do a search from the main page on exhaust, there have been several extensive threads on exhaust. I stuck with the stock head pipes and V&H slip-ons, wanted to keep the lower RPM TQ you loose with true duels, the slip-ons I got were a little louder than I wanted, but living with it. Good luck.

Vance and Hines "standard slash slip-ons" were the same pipes I was looking at. Considering the "true duals" to pair it up for the best possible sound. Power/ torque aren't really a priority, just seeking noise. As of now, the louder the better!

You want loud, use the Thuderheader Duals. D&D Duals sound real good and perform well. Not as loud as the Thunderheaders. ;)

Thats, what I'm running, the V&H Classic Slash cut slip-ons, I have the stock head pipes, there pretty loud!

Agreed timo! :2vrolijk_21:

Ya want loud AND performance, go with the D&D FatCats w/the Big Bore Muffler! You'll get the best of both! Don't ask me how I know that! ::) ;)

I recently traded in my 05 RK Classic.
However, I had V/H longshots, and was extremely pleased.
To some of my buddies it was a bit overwhelming in you were directly behind me.

How long are your rides and how much do you like the people you ride with? :huepfenlol2:

I went with Fulsac 1.75 cores and so far a drilled cat.  It is near perfect for what I wanted.  Performance sound without the volume.  Best comparison is a modern corvette or mustang...they sound very high performance without being loud.  I have had loud bikes in the past and still love hearing a loud HD just not all day.

In the end only you can decide what is the best choice for you.

I would guess from reading on this site you will find more guy's that bought an aftermarket exhaust and wished it was quieter than those who wish it was louder.

Sound: True Duals all the way ... but they kill the torque
Performance:  2 into 1
Overall and cheapest:  fulsac cores or slip ons

"To each his own." You don't have to imagine it. It's not your bike. I'd never own a ultra....or a sidecar. Everybody is entitled to personal preference/ opinion.
