Ceramic non-cat head pipe
« on: June 14, 2009, 08:23:38 AM »

I put my ceramic coated non-cat head pipe on my '09 cuse4 yesterday and went for a ride.  It is still too quiet, but the good news is that I definitely felt a difference in leg temperature.  I did some highway, followed by a ride on some city and town roads at low speeds and noticed a difference.  When I stopped for gas the pipe seemed to cool more quickly than in the past.  I had it done by a coating company in Hartford Connecticut for $160, that is the head pipe and crossover pipe, including chrome removal.  They coated the inside and outside of the pipe.  In short, it worked.

Thanks for the update.  Did you make any temperature readings before or after pipe install?

I haven't taken the after readings yet due to the heat gun being at work, but I will, when the gun and the bike are in the same place at the same time.  Yesterday I went on a parade run that I have done for the last several years.  My '07 cuse2 used to get pretty hot on the run.  My '09 cuse4 with the ceramic pipe was amazing.  It was cooler to my legs, ran better the whole 40 mile ride, my bsr said her feet and legs were much cooler than past runs.
I don't know why but without the cat and with the coating the bike does run better.  It doesn't make sense as it should be leaner and run worse, but there is no pinging or popping or anything, it just goes.  It is definitely more willing to rev and seems quicker through the ranges.
By the way, your bike is facing the wrong way. :)
